A Detailed Explanation of Sexual Hybridization Techniques and Methods for Tea Plants

Growing Techniques 0 views
A tea plant breeding method in which two tea plants with different genetic characteristics are sexually crossed. It can be divided into simple crossing (abbreviated as "single cross"), backcross, composite cross, multiple cross, convergent cross and natural cross, etc. The key technical points are: 1) According to the breeding objective, select and match the hybrid parents well; the one selected as the female parent is required to have strong seed-setting ability; the one selected as the male parent is required to have a high pollen germination rate. The seed-setting rates of the same parents in direct cross and reciprocal cross differ greatly; 2) 1-2 days before pollination, pick from the male parent plant flower buds that are about to open, and the next day use

A tea plant breeding method in which two tea plants with different genetic characteristics are sexually crossed. It can be divided into simple crossing (abbreviated as "single cross"), backcross, composite cross, multiple cross, convergent cross and natural cross, etc. The key technical points are:

1) According to the breeding objective, select and match the hybrid parents well; the one selected as the female parent is required to have strong seed-setting ability; the one selected as the male parent is required to have a high pollen germination rate. The seed-setting rates of the same parents in direct cross and reciprocal cross differ greatly;

2) 1-2 days before pollination, pick from the male parent plant flower buds that are about to open, and the next day use a writing brush to gently brush off the mature pollen and place it in a colored wide-mouth bottle for later use;

3) Before the female parent flower opens, take isolation measures, using bag isolation and gauze-frame whole-plant isolation;

4) Carefully emasculate; because tea flowers are bisexual, self-pollination has a certain seed-setting rate, so the stamens of the female parent need to be removed. When the flower bud is completely white and about to open, a pointed tweezers can be used to gently open the petals, clamp off the stamens, and be especially careful not to damage the pistil;

5) Carry out pollination within 1-2 days after emasculation, generally from 8 to 10 a.m.;

6) Strengthen management after pollination.
