Introduction to the Characteristics of the New Oyster Mushroom Variety Kangbing No. 2
"Kangbing No. 2" is a new wide-temperature-range oyster mushroom variety successfully bred through single-spore hybridization. It has stable biological traits, strong resistance to contaminating microorganisms, fast fruiting, good mushroom shape, tolerance to transport, and high yield. It is an excellent strain for marketing in autumn, winter, and spring. Its main characteristics are: 1. Resistance to yellow mushroom disease: In environments where other black varieties develop yellow mushroom disease or spot disease, dead mushrooms, or wilted mushrooms after 1 to 2 flushes of fruiting, "Kangbing No. 2" can continuously produce 5 to 6 flushes without any disease occurring. 2. Tolerance to heavy watering: During production management, heavy water spraying and irrigation do not kill the mushrooms or cause wilted mushrooms. 3. It is a wide-temperature-range variety: The mycelium growth temperature of this variety is 2°C to 38°C, and the fruiting temperature is 2 to 32°C. The cap is light gray at temperatures above 15°C and dark gray or grayish brown below 12°C. It can produce mushrooms abundantly in autumn, winter, and spring. At 2°C to 15°C, the mushroom body grows noticeably faster than other black varieties. If frozen, growth stops, but it can still grow normally after thawing. 4. The mycelium is thick, white, and robust, with strong wall-climbing ability: The mother culture mycelium can fully cover the test tube in 5 to 6 days, after which the appearance of yellow aerial mycelium is a normal phenomenon and is another characteristic of this strain. When cultivated on sterilized substrate in autumn, the mycelium fully colonizes the bag in 17 days and primordia appear in 20 to 22 days. 5. Excellent mushroom shape and good quality: The fruiting bodies of this variety are clustered, compact, short-stemmed, thick-capped, tender in texture, fresh in taste, and good in toughness, and they do not break during transport. 6. Tolerance to carbon dioxide: This variety does not have strict oxygen requirements. When ventilation is slightly poor, the mushroom body shape remains normal, but in a well-ventilated environment, the mushroom bodies are especially plump and thick, and the stipes are especially short. 7. Suitable for cultivation with various raw materials: It can be produced with various agricultural and forestry waste materials. When cultivated on substrates such as tung seed shells, corncobs, and soybean stalks, the biological conversion rate can stabilize at around 200%.
