Detailed Introduction to the New Oyster Mushroom Variety Pinghei No. 2
This variety is a wide-temperature type, with a fruiting temperature of 4-24°C. The caps are dark gray, medium to large in size, and tolerant of carbon dioxide. Under normal management conditions, the mycelium is thick and white, the fruit body shape is regular, and it is stemless, contamination-resistant, thick-fleshed and pliable, and tolerant of transport. It has a particularly strong ability to decompose lignin and cellulose, grows very well on culture substrates made from agricultural and sideline crop stalks such as corncobs and soybean straw, and can achieve very high yields.
Heiping No. 2 is suitable for cultivation on raw substrate, sterilized substrate, and fermented substrate, and bag cultivation is preferable. Corncobs are the most ideal cultivation material. When cultivated with fermented substrate, the substrate formula consists of corncobs, wheat bran, gypsum, and some auxiliary materials. After mixing the substrate evenly, build it into a pile for fermentation. If there is little material, a round pile can be made; if there is a lot of material, it should be piled into a trapezoid, generally 1.3 m wide at the base and 1 m high, with the length determined by the site and the amount of material used. After piling, make three rows of vertical holes on the surface of the pile, cover with plastic film and straw mats to keep warm and promote mycelial growth. When the temperature rises to 60-70°C, maintain it for 10-15 hours, then turn the pile. After that, turn it once a day for a total of 3-4 turns. The well-fermented substrate is brownish red, and the interior of the pile is filled with a large amount of white actinomycetes. Once the substrate temperature drops below 30°C, it can be bagged, inoculated, and cultivated. When the cultivation substrate is fully colonized by mycelium but primordia have not yet appeared, carry out three-dimensional cultivation and use water-retaining fruiting management. Generally, 5-6 flushes can be harvested, with a biological efficiency of 300-400%.
