Approval status: approved by the Fujian Provincial Crop Variety Approval Committee in 1987, and by the National Crop Variety Approval Committee in 1995.

Variety registration number: GS13012-l994.

Variety origin: developed from the local sexual population of Xiuzhuan using the single-plant selection method.

Characteristics: it belongs to the small tree, large-leaf type, with tall plants and a well-developed root system, early spring budding, late winter garden closure, strong bud-developing ability, fast shoot elongation, long internodes, short and sparse pubescence, relatively slender and small buds, and thin stems; it prefers shade and humidity, and has relatively weak cold resistance. It is suitable for making green tea and oolong tea, with high aroma and excellent quality.

Cultivation points: plant spacing 40-50 cm, row spacing about 120 cm, 2 plants per hole, 2000-2500 plants per mu. The height of a full-age plucking tea garden should preferably be 80-85 cm when plucking begins; for mature tea gardens, thin branches and light pruning should be carried out every other year to maintain an ideal plucking surface and vigorous tree growth. Retain leaves rationally, plucking one bud with one leaf retained, and retain an appropriate amount of leaves when plucking.

Suitable range: Fujian, Guangdong and other provinces and similar tea areas; suitable for making green tea and oolong tea.
