Characteristics: shrub type, medium-leaf class, early-sprouting cultivar. The plant is upright, with dense branching, and the leaves are borne in an upward-slanting arrangement. The leaf is long-elliptic, green in color, glossy, with the leaf blade slightly folded inward and a flat leaf surface. The bud and young leaves are pale yellow-green, with moderate pubescence; the weight of 100 buds at the one-bud-three-leaves stage is 49.3 grams, and the tenderness-holding ability is strong. The dry sample of one bud and two leaves of spring tea contains 4.7% amino acids, 28.5% tea polyphenols, and a total catechin content of 12.1%. It is suitable for processing green tea, and its quality is comparable to that of Fuding Dabaicha. It has strong cold resistance.

Yield performance: From 1990 to 1994, regional trials were conducted in Qianshan in the Jiangbei tea region and in Huizhou in the Jiangnan tea region. In Qianshan, the yield was 287 kg per mu, 124.9% higher than that of Anhui No. 3. In Huizhou, the yield was 230 kg per mu, 24.5% higher than that of Anhui No. 1. During the national regional trials from 1997 to 2001, at the Hangzhou site it was 15.56% higher than the control cultivar Fuding Dabaicha, and at the Xinyang site it was 45.23% lower.

Key cultivation techniques: The plant is upright, so the first shaping pruning can be slightly lower, and in the second year it can be pruned twice a year; for spring topdressing, in the Jiangnan tea region it should be carried out in late February, and in the Jiangbei tea region in early March.
