Why oyster mushroom logs grown with casing soil produce high yields

Bagging and inoculation: Select fresh cottonseed hulls, add 1% gypsum, 1% lime and 0.10% carbendazim, with a material-to-water ratio of 1:1.3-1:1.5. After mixing evenly, pile on a concrete floor to ferment for 3-5 days, then bag. When bagging, first tie one end of the material tube firmly, add a small amount of spawn, then when the material fills half the bag, sow 5-6 pieces of spawn the size of red dates at the edges of the material, then continue filling with material; once the bag is full, sprinkle a layer of spawn on the surface of the material and tie the bag opening firmly. Arranging bags for mycelial growth: The method of arranging bags for mycelial growth varies with the season. When cultivating in spring (January-February), the bags should be stacked as tightly and as high as possible to increase the material temperature and promote rapid mycelial growth. Generally, the mycelium can fill the bags in about 20 days.

Removing bags and casing with soil: After the logs have been fully colonized, remove the bags and stand them upright in the beds (with the contaminated end facing down), fill the gaps with soil (use fertile field soil), then cover the tops of the logs with another 1-2 cm of soil, and moisten the soil with water. Finally, build arched frames over the beds with bamboo poles and cover them with plastic film.

7-10 days after casing with soil, the soil filling the gaps and covering the surfaces of the bags will be full of mycelium; at this point, gently scrape away the casing soil to slightly expose one end of each log, and after 3-5 days mushroom buds will appear where the soil was removed.

At this point, the environmental humidity should be kept at 85%-90%, and fresh air should also be maintained. After a few days, harvest can begin once the edges of the caps are about to unfurl, and all should be harvested in one go. After harvesting, sprinkle a layer of plant ash and spray with a 0.3% urea solution, then water thoroughly, cover again with 1-2 cm of fine soil, and after 5 days scrape away the casing soil and continue managing as before; in this way, 8-9 flushes of oyster mushrooms can be harvested.
