Xiangzamian No. 11

This variety was jointly bred by the Hunan Cotton Science Research Institute (15 Yuxia Avenue, Qiaonan, Changde City, Hunan Province, postal code: 415101), the Biotechnology Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences and other institutions.

Characteristics: it is a transgenic insect-resistant hybrid first-generation variety, with a spring-sowing growth period of 126 days in the cotton region of the Yangtze River Basin. The plant is tower-shaped, with a plant height of 113.1cm, thick stems with more fine hairs, medium-sized dark green leaves, the first fruiting branch node at 6.6 nodes, 23.8 bolls per plant, oval-round bolls, single boll weight 6.2g, lint percentage 40.7%, seed index 11.3g, and pre-frost flower rate 89.3%. It is tolerant to Fusarium wilt and Verticillium wilt, highly resistant to pink bollworm, and moderately resistant to cotton bollworm. The yields of seed cotton, lint cotton and pre-frost lint cotton are respectively: 230kg/667 sq m, 93kg/667 sq m, 83kg/667 sq m. It is suitable for spring-sowing cultivation in the cotton regions of Jiangsu, Anhui south of the Huaihe River, as well as Zhejiang, Jiangxi, Hubei, Hunan, and southern Henan in the Yangtze River Basin.

Cultivation points: 1. Sowing. Sow in early to mid-April, using nutrient bowl seedling raising. 2. Transplanting. Generally transplant when the cotton seedlings have 3 to 4 true leaves and the red stem does not exceed half; complete transplanting before May 20: for medium-fertility land, plant 1500 plants per 667 sq m; for hilly and sandy land, plant 1600 to 1800 plants per 667 sq m. 3. Fertilization. Apply sufficient base fertilizer, increase potassium fertilizer, apply heavy flower and boll fertilizer, and spray foliar fertilizer at the appropriate time in the later stage. Carry out chemical regulation according to cotton growth, mastering the principle of light early, moderate middle, heavy late, and small amounts multiple times. 4. Pest control. Focus on controlling non-lepidopteran pests such as aphids, red spiders, mirids and cotton leafworms; in years with severe cotton bollworm occurrence, pay attention to controlling the fourth and fifth generations of cotton bollworm.

Xinlumian No. 1

This variety was jointly bred by the ** Institute of Economic Crops (3 Nanchang Road, Urumqi City, postal code: 830011) and the Biotechnology Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences.

Characteristics: it is a transgenic insect-resistant conventional variety, with a full spring-sowing growth period of 143 days in the northwest inland cotton region. The plant is tower-shaped and loose, with a plant height of 65cm, relatively hard and elastic stems with fine hairs, type II fruiting branches, medium-sized dark green leaves with relatively deep notches, glands on stems and petioles, the first fruiting branch node at 4.9 nodes, 7.9 bolls per plant, oval-round bolls with pointed boll tips, single boll weight 5.8g, lint percentage 40.7%, seed index 10.9g, and pre-frost flower rate 88.9%. It is tolerant to Fusarium wilt and Verticillium wilt, and resistant to cotton bollworm. The yields of seed cotton, lint cotton and pre-frost lint cotton are respectively 319kg/667 sq m, 129kg/667 sq m and 117kg/667 sq m. It is suitable for planting in early and medium-maturing cotton regions of the northwest inland.

Cultivation points: sow in mid-April, with a theoretical density of 10,000 to 12,000 plants per 667 sq m. Determine the amount of fertilizer according to yield and land conditions. Apply sufficient base fertilizer, increase organic fertilizer and phosphorus and potassium fertilizers; the topdressing period is slightly earlier than for conventional cotton, and each topdressing must be paired with potassium fertilizer, with the same topdressing amount as conventional cotton. Apply heavy bud fertilizer, heavy flower and boll fertilizer in the early flowering and boll stage, heavy top-covering fertilizer in the full flowering and boll stage, and apply foliar fertilizer as appropriate; when using cotton special fertilizer, ensure the potassium fertilizer amount. In years with normal rainfall, carry out chemical regulation 3 to 4 times, using mepiquat chloride per 667 sq m at 2g in the full bud stage, 5g in the early flowering stage, and 10g 5 days after topping. Timely hoeing, weeding and irrigation to ensure loose soil in the cotton field, neither drought nor waterlogging.

Lumianyan No. 29

This variety was jointly bred by the Shandong Cotton Research Center (202 Gongye North Road, Jinan City, Shandong Province, postal code: 250100) and the Biotechnology Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences.

Characteristics: it is a transgenic insect-resistant conventional variety, with a spring-sowing growth period of 125 days in the Yellow River Basin cotton region. The plant type is loose, with a plant height of 96cm, stems with more fine hairs, medium to large dark green leaves, the first fruiting branch node at 7.3 nodes, 17.7 bolls per plant, oval-round bolls, single boll weight 5.4g, lint percentage 39.4%, seed index 10.58, and pre-frost flower rate 92.9%. Emergence is relatively good, early growth is average, mid-to-late growth is strong, uniformity is relatively good, leaf function in the later stage is relatively good, boll setting and boll opening are concentrated, and boll opening is smooth. It is resistant to Fusarium wilt, tolerant to Verticillium wilt, and resistant to cotton bollworm. The yields of seed cotton, lint cotton and pre-frost lint cotton are respectively 231kg/667 sq m, 93kg/667 sq m and 90kg/667 sq m. It is suitable for spring-sowing planting in central and southern Hebei, eastern, northern and central Shandong and Henan, and the Yellow River Basin cotton region north of the Huaihe River in Jiangsu and Anhui.

Cultivation points: sow around April 20, with a sowing density of 3000 plants per 667 sq m. Choose medium and high fertility and water conditions for planting, apply sufficient base fertilizer, apply heavy flower and boll fertilizer, and water promptly in case of summer drought to prevent premature senescence. Under normal circumstances, carry out chemical regulation once each in the bud stage, early flowering stage and full flowering stage. Focus on controlling non-lepidopteran pests such as cotton aphids, cotton spider mites, tobacco whiteflies and mirids; the second generation of cotton bollworm does not need pesticide control, and the third and fourth generations each need 1 to 2 controls.

The above approved varieties are all transgenic varieties and should be promoted strictly within the scope permitted by the agricultural genetically modified organism safety certificates.
