The transgenic insect-resistant conventional cotton new variety "Shannong Shengmian No. 1", developed by Professor Shen Fafu of Shandong Agricultural University, passed the approval. The transgenic insect-resistant conventional cotton new variety "Shannong Shengmian No. 1", developed by Professor Shen Fafu of Shandong Agricultural University, passed the approval. This is another transgenic insect-resistant cotton new variety developed by our university after "Shannong Shengza No. 3".

"Shannong Shengmian No. 1" is a transgenic insect-resistant conventional variety, with a growth period of 123 days, a relatively loose plant type, the first fruiting branch node at 6.5 nodes, 16.8 bolls per plant, oval bolls, a single boll weight of 6.2 grams, a lint percentage of 40.2%, a seed index of 11.3 grams, and a pre-frost flower rate of 93.5%. It has strong growth in the middle and late stages, good leaf function in the late stage and no premature senescence, strong boll setting, resistance to Fusarium wilt, tolerance to Verticillium wilt, resistance to cotton bollworm, and tolerance to salinity and alkalinity. The average fiber length is 30.1 mm, the breaking strength is 30.2 cN/tex, the Micronaire value is 4.8, the elongation at break is 6.4%, the reflectance is 74.4%, the yellowness depth is 7.9, the uniformity index is 85.2%, and the spinning consistency index is 150.

In 2005, "Shannong Shengmian No. 1" participated in the Shandong provincial regional trial. Its seed cotton, lint cotton and pre-frost lint cotton yields increased by 10.6%, 16.5% and 16.6% respectively compared with the control Deltapine 99B, and its seed cotton, lint cotton and pre-frost lint cotton all ranked first in its group, so it was recommended to participate in the national regional trial. From 2006 to 2007, it participated in the spring cotton group variety regional trial in the Yellow River Basin cotton region, and its seed cotton, lint cotton and pre-frost lint cotton yields increased by 11.6%, 6.8% and 5.2% respectively compared with the control Lumianyan No. 21. In 2007, it participated in the production trial of Group A of medium-maturing conventional spring cotton in the Yellow River Basin cotton region. Its seed cotton, lint cotton and pre-frost lint cotton yields per mu increased by 13.4%, 8.9% and 9.7% respectively compared with the control Lumianyan No. 21, and its seed cotton, lint cotton and pre-frost lint cotton all ranked first among the varieties in the production trial of Group A of conventional spring cotton.

This variety has obtained agricultural genetically modified organism production and application safety certificates in 7 provinces and municipalities, including Shandong, Hebei, Henan, Shanxi, Shaanxi, Tianjin, Jiangsu and Anhui, and is recommended for national approval.
