Introduction to the New Cotton Variety Ekangmian 11
Variety source: A cotton variety developed by Hubei Jingchu Seed Industry Co., Ltd. through sexual hybridization using "Ekangmian 10" as the female parent and "3259" as the male parent, and selected and bred through the pedigree method. Original code: Jingchu 201. In 2005, it passed the approval of the Hubei Provincial Crop Variety Approval Committee, with the variety approval number E Shen Mian 2005009.
Quality and yield: From 2003 to 2004, it participated in the Hubei Provincial Cotton Variety Regional Trial. The fiber quality was tested by the Cotton Quality Supervision, Inspection and Testing Center of the Ministry of Agriculture: 2.5% span length 31.9 mm, specific strength 32.6 CN/tex, micronaire value 4.8. The two-year regional trial average lint yield was 89.55 kg per mu, an increase of 20.56% compared with the control Ekangmian 9. Among them: in 2003, the lint yield per mu was 79.07 kg, an increase of 27.14% over Ekangmian 9; in 2004, the lint yield per mu was 100.02 kg, an increase of 15.82% over Ekangmian 9. The yield increase was extremely significant in both years.
Characteristics: The plant is relatively tall, with a tower-shaped plant type, relatively loose, and strong growth throughout the whole growth period. The stems are mainly smooth, with a few having sparse fine hairs or many hairs; the stems are thick and elastic. The leaves are relatively large, and the leaf color is relatively light. The bolls are of two types, oval and round, with boll tips; the bolls are relatively large, the boll-setting ability is relatively strong, and boll opening is smooth. In the regional trial, the plant height was 110.15 cm, the number of fruiting branches was 17.25, the number of bolls per plant was 21.3, the single boll weight was 5.40 g, the large-sample lint percentage was 39.77%, and the seed index was 10.75 g. The growth period was 129 days. The pre-frost boll rate was 83.34%. Disease resistance identification showed tolerance to Fusarium wilt and Verticillium wilt.
Cultivation points: 1. Sow at the appropriate time. For seedling raising in nutritional pots and transplanting, sow in early to mid-April; for direct sowing in the open field, sow around April 20. 2. Reasonable close planting. Plant about 1800 plants per mu, with a row spacing of 90-100 cm. 3. Scientific fertilization, paying attention to increasing the application of phosphorus, potassium, boron and other microelement fertilizers. Apply 2000 kg of farmyard manure, 20 kg of urea, and 40 kg of superphosphate per mu as base fertilizer; apply 20 kg of urea, 15-20 kg of potassium chloride, and 30 kg of superphosphate per mu as flowering and boll fertilizer; apply an appropriate amount of topping fertilizer in early August, with 15 kg of urea per mu. 4. Chemical regulation throughout the whole process. Strictly follow the principle of light first and heavy later, and carry out at the bud stage, early flowering stage, full flowering stage, and after topping. 5. Strengthen field management. Cultivate at the appropriate time, form ridges and earth up. Remove leaf branches in time. Irrigate in time to resist drought when high temperature and drought occur. Pay attention to integrated pest and disease control.
Suitable range: Suitable for planting in cotton areas of Hubei Province, but not suitable for planting in fields with severe Fusarium wilt and Verticillium wilt.
