Introduction to the New Cotton Variety Ekangmian No. 7
Brief description of the variety:
This variety (formerly named Jing 96273) belongs to the medium-early maturing type, with a growth period of 140 days. It is uniform, with somewhat weak seedling vigor and relatively strong growth in the mid-to-late stages. The plant is tall, with a loose plant type, thick stems, and relatively large leaves. Boll weight is 6.1 grams, oval-shaped, with concentrated boll setting. Lint percentage is 41.3%. Highly resistant to Fusarium wilt, susceptible to Verticillium wilt. Fiber quality is excellent.
Key cultivation techniques: (1) Apply heavy farmyard manure or organic fertilizer as base fertilizer; (2) Raise seedlings in nutritional pots for transplanting, cultivate early cotton with plastic film mulching and direct seeding in spring intercropping, with suitable sowing period from late March to early May. (3) At medium fertility, plant density of 2500 plants per mu; apply 12.5 kg of pure nitrogen per mu. (4) Use wide rows and close plant spacing, ridge and earth up before flowering. (5) Apply heavy flowering and boll fertilizer, increase potassium fertilizer application. (6) Timely control of pests and diseases; after squaring, actively apply chemical regulation, in small amounts multiple times, so that color changes without deformation. (7) Top the plants around the Beginning of Autumn.
This cotton variety participated in the Yangtze River Basin disease-resistant regional trials in 1993-1994 and the 1995 production trial, and passed the examination and approval of the Hubei Province Variety Approval Committee in 1997. In the whole-basin regional trials, lint yield increased by an average of 4.88%, in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River region lint yield increased by 6.96%, and in the production trial yield increased by 12.46%. The fiber is relatively long, with relatively high strength and good comprehensive spinning performance. The bolls are relatively large, lint percentage is high, and boll opening is concentrated. Highly resistant to Fusarium wilt.
After review, it meets the national variety approval standards and has been approved. This variety is suitable for planting in the Fusarium wilt cotton areas of the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River Basin.
