Breeding institutions: Hejian City Guoxin Rural Technical Service Association, Biotechnology Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Beijing Guoxin Kechuang Biotechnology Co., Ltd.

Characteristics: A mid-early maturing hybrid first-generation variety with a transferred insect-resistance gene, with a spring sowing growth period of 123 days in the Yellow River Basin cotton region. The plant shape is loose, with a plant height of 105 cm, 17.2 bolls per plant, smooth boll opening, a single boll weight of 6.0 g, a lint percentage of 39.75%, a seed index of 10.9 g, and a pre-frost flower rate of 92.2%. Resistant to Fusarium wilt, tolerant to Verticillium wilt, and resistant to cotton bollworm.

Yield performance: In 2005, it participated in the regional trial of the hybrid spring cotton group in the Yellow River Basin cotton region. The average yields per mu of seed cotton, lint cotton and pre-frost lint cotton were 250.5 kg, 102.8 kg and 95.9 kg respectively, increasing by 18.1%, 22.8% and 22.2% respectively compared with the control Zhongmiansuo No. 41; in the 2006 continued trial, the average yields per mu of seed cotton, lint cotton and pre-frost lint cotton were 253.6 kg, 97.5 kg and 88.8 kg respectively, increasing by 11.6%, 5.9% and 1.8% respectively compared with the control. In the 2006 production trial, the yields per mu of seed cotton, lint cotton and pre-frost lint cotton were 238.3 kg, 91.8 kg and 86.0 kg respectively, increasing by 2.5% and decreasing by 3.2% and 6.4% respectively compared with the control.

Approval opinion: The genetically modified organism name of this variety is sGKz46 (Guoxin Cotton No. 8). It is suitable for spring sowing cultivation in the Yellow River Basin cotton region of southeastern, southern and central-southern Hebei, northern Shandong, and northern and central Henan.
