Introduction to the new cotton variety Jimian 21
Characteristics: This variety (formerly named Han 78-91) is an early-maturing low-gossypol cotton, with a growth period of 110 days and good early maturity. The plant is relatively tall, with thick and sturdy stems, slightly loose fruiting branches, and relatively large leaves of a light color. It emerges quickly and grows well throughout the entire growth period. The leaves and bolls open smoothly and concentratedly. It is resistant to Fusarium wilt and tolerant to Verticillium wilt. Boll weight is 4.7 grams, and lint percentage is 34.7%. In the national summer cotton regional trial and production trial, the pre-frost lint yield increased by 10.9% and 19.6% compared with the control. Fiber 2.5% span length is 27.3 mm, specific strength is 22 gf/tex, and Micronaire value is 5.1.
Key cultivation techniques: Interplant on May 20-25 within the @#@245@#@ wide rows, cover lightly, and water after sowing. After wheat harvest, promptly clear stubble, water, thin seedlings, and finalize spacing. Density is 6000-8000 plants per mu. During the seedling stage, pay attention to controlling thrips and red spider mites; during the bud and boll stage, control cotton bollworm and summer aphids. During the bud stage, apply 15-20 kg of urea per mu as topdressing. Top the plants on July 20, leaving 7-9 fruiting branches. From early flowering to the peak boll-setting stage, spray 2-3 times with mepiquat chloride.
