Detailed Introduction to the New Cotton Variety Jiza 2
Jiza 2 (Approval Number: National Cotton Approval 2007005)
Breeding units: Cotton Research Institute of Hebei Academy of Agriculture and Forestry Sciences, Biotechnology Research Institute of Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences
Characteristics: A transgenic insect-resistant mid-maturing hybrid first-generation variety, with a spring-sowing growth period of 122 days in the Yellow River Basin cotton region. The plant shape is relatively loose, with a plant height of 102 cm, 16.2 bolls per plant, a single boll weight of 6.7 g, a lint percentage of 39.2%, a seed index of 11.1 g, and a pre-frost flower rate of 93.9%. Highly resistant to fusarium wilt, tolerant to verticillium wilt, and resistant to cotton bollworm.
Yield performance: In 2005, it participated in the regional trial of the hybrid spring cotton group in the Yellow River Basin cotton region. The per-mu yields of seed cotton, lint cotton, and pre-frost lint cotton were 248.5 kg, 96.8 kg, and 90.5 kg respectively, increasing yield by 17.2%, 15.7%, and 15.3% respectively compared with the control; in the 2006 continued trial, the per-mu yields of seed cotton, lint cotton, and pre-frost lint cotton were 256.3 kg, 99.6 kg, and 92.1 kg respectively, increasing yield by 16.1%, 12.8%, and 10.6% respectively compared with the control. In the 2006 production trial, the per-mu yields of seed cotton, lint cotton, and pre-frost lint cotton were 250.1 kg, 98.0 kg, and 92.0 kg respectively, increasing yield by 7.5%, 3.4%, and 0.1% respectively compared with the control.
Approval opinion: The genetically modified organism name of this variety is Ji H963. It is suitable for spring-sowing cultivation in the Yellow River Basin cotton region of southeastern, southern, and south-central Hebei, northern Shandong, central and northern Henan, Jiangsu, and Anhui north of the Huai River, and the Guanzhong area of Shaanxi.
