Shannong Shengza 3 (registration number: Guoshenmian 20007006)

Characteristics: a middle-maturing hybrid first-generation variety with introduced insect-resistance genes, with a growth period of 122 days when planted in spring in the Yellow River basin cotton region. The plant is relatively loose, with a plant height of 100.4 cm, 17.3 bolls per plant, oval bolls, relatively thin boll husks, and open and concentrated boll opening, with a single boll weight of 6.3 g, lint percentage of 40.0%, seed index of 11.5 g, and pre-frost flower rate of 94.1%. Tolerant to fusarium wilt, tolerant to verticillium wilt, and resistant to cotton bollworm.

Yield performance: in 2005, it participated in the regional trial of the hybrid spring cotton group in the Yellow River basin cotton region; the yields per mu of seed cotton, lint cotton, and pre-frost lint cotton were 244.3 kg, 95.9 kg, and 90.4 kg respectively, increasing by 15.2%, 14.6%, and 15.2% respectively compared with the control Zhongmiansuo 41. In the 2006 continued trial, the yields per mu of seed cotton, lint cotton, and pre-frost lint cotton were 251.4 kg, 101.1 kg, and 94.9 kg respectively, increasing by 10.7%, 9.8%, and 8.8% respectively compared with the control. In the 2006 production trial, the average yields per mu of seed cotton, lint cotton, and pre-frost lint cotton were 246.7 kg, 98.5 kg, and 93.9 kg respectively, increasing by 6.1%, 4.0%, and 2.2% respectively compared with the control.

Approval opinion: the genetically modified organism name of this variety is Shannong SF03, and it is suitable for spring planting in the Yellow River basin cotton region of southeastern, southern, and south-central Hebei, Shandong, northern and central Henan, southern Shanxi, the Guanzhong area of Shaanxi, Tianjin, and the area north of the Huai River in Jiangsu and Anhui.
