What are the key points of cotton seedbed management? Do these well and the seedlings will be stronger
This year the weather during cotton sowing was good, with plenty of sunlight. At present, the large-area cotton has full stands and has entered the seedbed management stage. The following points should be grasped in detail:
1. After full emergence, spray each 10 sq m of seedbed with 3 ml of "Zaofa No. 1" plus 0.6 kg of water; spray once more after 8-10 days to prevent leggy seedlings and cultivate large, strong seedlings.
2. After full emergence, choose sunny weather to sun the bed and disperse moisture, and at the same time spray chemicals to prevent disease.
3. For the few dry, stiff cotton seedlings lacking water and fertilizer, promptly supplement fertilizer and water. Before 9 a.m., ventilate first and then remove the film to supplement water, and water with urea plus diluted manure water. After drying, scatter dry fine soil, then cover with film to keep warm. For seedbeds where seedlings do not emerge due to lack of water, use the method of drawing out the pots and soaking with water to supplement water and keep warm.
4. Regulate bed temperature. Before the 2-leaf 1-heart stage, adopt the management method of only ventilating without removing the film, keep warm and promote growth, and speed up leaf emergence. Ventilate in the morning, close the ventilation openings in the afternoon, and maintain bed temperature at night.
5. Reinforce the frame, repair the shed film, and enhance the heat preservation effect.
6. Thin and finalize seedlings in time. For seedbeds with 2 seeds per pot or sown in a "1-2-1" pattern, finalize the seedlings promptly after full emergence to improve the ventilation conditions in the bed. (7) Build a good seedbed water system to prevent sudden shifts from drought to waterlogging.
In addition, do a good job of hardening seedlings and preparing for transplanting. For intercropped cotton, 5-7 days before transplanting, harden the seedlings according to the procedure of "uncover by day and cover at night, gradually remove the film"; for cotton after wheat, promote the technique of moving pots to restrain seedlings, with the time controlled at 10-15 days before transplanting. After moving the pots, promptly supplement fertilizer, water, and soil, and cover with film to keep warm, restrain top growth and promote root growth, so as to prevent stiff seedlings. During seedling hardening, if a cold wave or cloudy and rainy weather occurs, still cover with film to prevent damaging seedlings and pots, and insist that seedlings do not leave the bed and the film does not leave the field.
