Introduction to the new cotton variety Lumianyan 20

The following variety was developed by Anhui Runhe Cotton Industry Co., Ltd.

Breeding institution: This variety is a newly bred insect-resistant hybrid cotton variety from the Shandong Cotton Research Center. In 2002, this variety was recommended to participate ahead of schedule in the national insect-resistant cotton production trial and performed outstandingly. Authorized to Anhui Runhe Cotton Industry Company for seed production @#@136@#@.

Characteristics: This variety is a medium-early maturing variety with a tower shape and good ventilation and light penetration; good emergence, vigorous growth in the early and middle stages, and steady plant growth; strong boll setting with uniform distribution; high pre-frost lint rate, smooth boll opening, and oval-shaped bolls.

Yield performance: In 2001, it participated in the Shandong Province insect-resistant cotton regional trial. The lint and pre-frost lint yields per mu were 118.3 kg and 114.7 kg, an increase of 12.1% over the control Zhongmiansuo No. 38 F1; after years of trials, this combination has shown high and stable yield.

Fiber quality: Cotton samples provided by the Shandong Province regional trial were tested by the Quality Supervision and Testing Center of the Ministry of Agriculture, with an average of 2.5%, staple length 32 mm, micronaire value 4.1, main fiber indicators conforming, and moderate fineness.

Disease and pest resistance: Strong resistance to cotton bollworm, with stable resistance; according to the province regional trial disease resistance identification, the relative Fusarium wilt index was 9.7, and the relative Verticillium wilt index was 29.2. Its Verticillium wilt resistance is better than that of Zhong 29 (31.2) and the disease-resistant control Zhong 12 (34.6). It is a variety with relatively outstanding Fusarium wilt resistance in the two-year province regional trial.
