Developing and utilizing natural resources to grow shiitake mushrooms is a fast path to wealth, and using crop by-products to cultivate shiitake mushrooms is an effective way to lower production costs and improve economic returns.

When making shiitake cultivation substrate, if the fermentation speed is too slow and the temperature is low, it will seriously affect the quality of the substrate and production efficiency, thereby greatly reducing the economic returns of mushroom growers. So how can shiitake cultivation substrate be fermented quickly? Below is a method for rapid fermentation using Jinbaobei starter culture, which is absolutely convenient and practical. The raw materials for cultivating shiitake mushrooms with this method include rice straw, grain stalks, wheat straw, weeds, and others, which can be selected according to actual conditions.

1. Cottonseed hulls or waste cotton 75%, wheat straw 20%, bran 5%.

2. Cottonseed hulls 87%, dried cow manure 5%, bran 4%, superphosphate 4%, carbendazim 0.1%.

3. Peanut shells 40% to 60%, bran 4% to 6%, superphosphate 2%, gypsum 1.5%, carbendazim 0.2%, cottonseed hulls as appropriate.

4. Wheat straw (or corn stalks, weeds, millet straw, etc.) 80%, dried livestock and poultry manure 10%, bran 5%, urea 1%, gypsum 1%, plant ash 2-5%.

The specific preparation method is: cut the main materials such as peanut shells, cottonseed hulls, and wheat straw into 2-3 cm small pieces (the shorter the better), then add auxiliary materials such as rice bran and bran and lime powder, then add about 5% Jinbaobei starter culture, and mix evenly. Add water to moisten, with a water content of about 65%, that is, when the culture substrate is squeezed in the hand with moderate force, water appears between the fingers but does not drip down. After 7-10 days, when the material becomes brown, soft and elastic in texture, and has a special fragrance, it indicates that the material has been fully fermented. During the fermentation process using this method, the loss of nutrients and moisture in the material can be prevented, appropriate humidity and pH can be maintained, and the fermentation effect is very good.
