Introduction to Xinqiu 2, a Recommended Variety under the Cotton Improved Seed Subsidy Program
National Cotton Approval 2007008
Characteristics: A transgenic insect-resistant mid-maturity hybrid first-generation variety. In the Yellow River basin cotton region, the spring-sowing growth period is 120 days. Emergence is relatively late, seedling vigor is weak, mid-season vigor is strong, and late-season vigor declines, with average leaf function. The plant type is compact, plant height 100 cm, leaves medium-sized and dark green, the first fruiting branch node is at 7.5 nodes, bolls per plant 17.6, boll ovoid, boll opening smooth, single boll weight 6.0 g, lint percentage 41.6%, seed index 10.1 g, pre-frost boll rate 96.5%. Tolerant to Fusarium wilt, tolerant to Verticillium wilt, resistant to cotton bollworm; HVICC fiber upper half mean length 30.4 mm, breaking tenacity 31.2 cN/tex, micronaire value 4.5, breaking elongation 6.3%, reflectance 74.6%, yellowness 7.2, uniformity index 85.4%, spinning consistency index 155.
Key cultivation techniques: 1. Use plastic film mulching or seedling transplanting. When the 5 cm soil temperature stably passes 15°C, sow directly in cotton fields in mid-to-late April; for seedling transplanting, raise seedlings in early April. 2. For cotton fields of average fertility, the planting density is 2000 plants per mu. 3. Apply sufficient base fertilizer, apply heavy flowering and boll fertilizer, and spray foliar fertilizer as appropriate in the later stage; base fertilizer should be mainly organic fertilizer, apply nitrogen fertilizer steadily, appropriately increase phosphorus and potassium fertilizer, supplement trace-element fertilizer as appropriate, and implement balanced fertilization. 4. According to cotton growth and appearance, follow the principle of small amounts applied multiple times, and carry out chemical regulation at the appropriate time. 5. In normal years, the second generation of cotton bollworm does not need control; when the third and fourth generations of cotton bollworm reach the control threshold, control as appropriate; control other pests promptly. 6. Under adverse climatic conditions, integrated control of Fusarium wilt and Verticillium wilt should be strengthened.
Approval opinion: This variety has obtained the agricultural genetically modified organism production and application safety certificate (the genetically modified organism name is sGKz32 (Xinqiu 2)), meets the national cotton variety approval standards, and has passed approval. It is a transgenic insect-resistant mid-maturity hybrid first-generation variety, suitable for spring sowing in the Yellow River basin cotton region of southern and central-southern Hebei, Shandong, northern and central Henan, and Jiangsu and Anhui north of the Huai River, and should be promoted strictly within the scope permitted by the agricultural genetically modified organism safety certificate.
