Correct methods for using cotton seedling protection agent
I. Methods for using cotton seedling protection agent The cotton seedling protection agent consists of three bags: large, medium and small. The specific seed soaking steps are: 1. Soak 5 kg of cotton seeds in clear water mixed with three parts hot (about 70°C) and one part cold for 5 minutes, remove the cotton seeds and squeeze out excess water. 2. Dissolve the small bag of reagent in 0.5 kg of clear water, pour it into the cotton seeds soaked in the three-hot-one-cold clear water, stirring while pouring, and after thorough stirring leave for 24 hours (stirring 2~3 times during this period). 3. Dissolve the medium bag of reagent in 1.54 kg of clear water, pour it into the cotton seeds soaked with the small bag of reagent, and after thorough stirring leave for 24 hours. 4. Dissolve the large bag of reagent in 1.5 kg of clear water, pour it into the cotton seeds soaked with the medium bag of reagent, and after thorough stirring leave for 24 hours. After treatment, sowing can be done directly, or the seeds can be placed in a wet bag for sprouting before sowing. When sowing in a rush, the soaking time for each bag can be shortened to 12 hours. Alternatively, after soaking 10 kg of cotton seeds in three-hot-one-cold clear water for 12 hours, remove and drain the water, dissolve the large, medium and small bags of reagent in 2 kg of clear water, pour it into the cotton seeds soaked in the three-hot-one-cold clear water, and after thorough stirring leave for 12 hours, then sprout and sow.
II. Precautions 1. The process of treating cotton seeds with cotton seedling protection agent is a process of exercising the resistance of the cotton seeds. It allows the cotton seeds to fully absorb the reagent, thereby reducing the invasion of soil salt ions and pathogens and improving the stress resistance of cotton seedlings, with a relatively long residual effect. Shortening the soaking time or soaking only once is not as effective as soaking in stages and leaving for 24 hours each time. 2. For cotton seeds that have been delinted with sulfuric acid or that need mechanical sowing, the three-hot-one-cold soaking may be omitted, and the cotton seedling protection agent can be used directly for soaking. However, the water amounts added to the three bags of reagent are respectively 1.8 kg, and 6 kg of seeds are soaked, with the other steps the same. 3. When the cotton seedling protection agent is used at the same time as pesticides for pest control, wait until the three soakings with the seedling protection agent are completed, then mix in the pesticide before sowing. 4. After soaking with the cotton seedling protection agent, if the cotton seeds are too wet and unsuitable for sowing, they may be aired in the wind or sun for a while, but do not let the seeds lose too much water, otherwise the effect will be affected. 5. If the weather is dry during soaking and the seeds lose water quickly, the seeds can be covered with a wet cloth; if the temperature is relatively high (daily average temperature above 20°C), the standing time of each soaking can be appropriately shortened, so as to avoid the seeds sprouting too long and affecting sowing.
