The new hybrid cotton combination "Jiuzasi No. 4", successfully bred over 8 years by the Anhui Provincial Jiucheng Agricultural Science Institute, passed the approval of the province's Crop Variety Approval Committee on January 11. Experts believe that this variety has good yield potential, stress resistance and fiber quality, and is a new combination with great yield-increasing potential among Anhui's new cotton varieties. The Anhui Jiucheng Agricultural Science Institute began the selection and breeding work of "Jiuzasi No. 4" in 1994. The parents of this variety were purified using the self-pollination mixed-propagation method, and the new combination was screened out through hybrid breeding methods

The Anhui Jiucheng Agricultural Science Institute began the selection and breeding work of "Jiuzasi No. 4" in 1994. The parents of this variety were purified using the self-pollination mixed-propagation method, and the new combination was screened out through hybrid breeding methods. The "Jiuzasi No. 4" plant is tall, with strong growth vigor during the growth period, obvious heterosis, and a certain degree of disease resistance and strong lodging resistance.

This variety performed outstandingly in the province's cotton variety regional trials for three consecutive years, attracting considerable attention. In the 2000 provincial regional trial, the seed cotton yield was 226.38 kg per mu, ranking second among all tested varieties and 13.24% higher than the control group; in the 2001 provincial regional trial, the lint cotton yield was 123.97 kg per mu, 17.5% higher than the control group, and the seed cotton yield was 291.65 kg per mu, 25.7% higher than the control group. Both the lint cotton and seed cotton yields ranked second among all tested varieties, among which the pre-frost seed cotton and lint cotton yields per mu were 237.87 kg and 101.00 kg respectively, ranking first among all tested varieties; this variety also won the lint cotton per-unit-yield championship in the 2001 provincial cotton variety competition; in 2002, participating in the provincial production trial, this variety's seed cotton yield was 267.55 kg per mu, 25.6% higher than the control group, and its lint cotton yield was 112.4 kg per mu, 19.3% higher than the control group, the highest yield among all tested varieties.
