Preliminary Report on the Effects of Applying Kebao Plant Super-Vitamin to Cotton
1 Materials and Methods
1.1 Test material Kebao Plant Super-Vitamin, produced and supplied by Zhejiang Kebao Biotechnology Co., Ltd.; the test variety was Xiangza Cotton No. 2.
1.2 Test site Dasha Lake Farm, Honghu City, Hubei Province. The soil texture was sandy loam; spring plowing and spring irrigation were carried out, and before land preparation, 300 kg/hm2 of 52% diammonium phosphate and 75 kg/hm2 of 46% urea were broadcast.
1.3 Experimental design Three treatments were set up. Treatment 1: Kebao Plant Super-Vitamin at a single application rate of 300 g/hm2, as a 1500-fold solution (10 g per bag, diluted with 15 kg water); Treatment 2: potassium dihydrogen phosphate at a single application rate of 1500 g/hm2; Treatment 3: CK (water control). Random arrangement, 3 replications, plot area 70 m2.
1.4 Test procedure Sowing was on April 6, with 4 films and 8 rows, drilled sowing under film; during the seedling stage, intertillage was carried out 3 times, and over the whole growth period, 2100 kg/hm2 of standard fertilizer was applied. Application dates: foliar spraying was carried out once each on May 19 and June 23 (sprayed evenly on both the front and back of the leaves). During the test period, plant height, stem diameter, disease resistance and yield were investigated. Finally, statistical analysis was carried out.
2 Results and Analysis
2.1 Effects of Kebao on cotton economic traits and disease resistance As can be seen from Table 1, after spraying cotton with Kebao, its plant height, stem diameter, number of fruit branches and so on were all affected to varying degrees. The plant height of Treatment 1 was 2.8 cm higher than CK and 2.6 cm higher than Treatment 2; the stem diameter was 0.05 mm thicker than CK and 0.11 mm thicker than Treatment 2; the number of fruit branches was 2.3 more than CK and 1.6 more than Treatment 2. Kebao had an obvious effect on reducing cotton Verticillium wilt, and the incidence rate of Treatment 1 was 2.94% lower than CK.
2.2 Effects of Kebao on cotton yield As can also be seen from Table 1, the number of bolls per plant of Treatment 1 was 2.74 more than CK, and the single boll weight was 0.33 g higher; compared with Treatment 2, it was 2.25 more and the single boll weight was 0.07 g higher; the per-unit yield increased by 20.6% compared with CK and by 12.9% compared with Treatment 2. From the results of analysis of variance, the yields among treatments differed significantly at the 0.05 level, and the cotton yield of Treatment 1 differed significantly from Treatment 2 and CK at the 0.01 level. Therefore, the yield-increasing effect of Kebao on cotton was significant.
2.3 Effects of Kebao on cotton economic benefits As can be seen from Table 1, compared with CK, Treatment 1 increased seed cotton yield by 1033 kg/hm2; calculated at 5 yuan/kg of seed cotton, this increased the output value by 5167 yuan per hectare, and its economic benefit was considerable.
3 Summary
After spraying Plant Super-Vitamin on cotton, on the one hand, the resistance of the cotton plants to Verticillium wilt was obviously enhanced, which is related to Kebao's ability to fully tap the plant's inherent potential, strengthen the defense mechanism, and enable the cotton plants to acquire disease resistance; on the other hand, the yield-increasing effect on cotton was significant, with an input-to-output ratio of 1:23 and considerable benefits. Therefore, Kebao Plant Super-Vitamin is worth promoting in cotton-producing areas.
