Introduction to the Characteristics of the Chuangzamian No. 9 Cotton Variety
I. Approval Number
Su Shen Mian 200604
II. Origin and Type
Originally named "GKZ No. 9", it is a first-generation hybrid of medium-maturing upland cotton, developed in 2001 by Nantong Genesis Transgenic Seed Industry Co., Ltd. by crossing Guokang No. 22 x intermediate line 012.
III. Adaptation Scope
Suitable for planting in light Fusarium wilt areas of Jiangsu Province (excluding the Xuzhou region).
IV. Yield Level and Characteristics
Participated in the Jiangsu Provincial Regional Trial in 2002 and 2004, with a two-year average seed cotton yield of 266.6 kg per mu, an average increase of 12.4% compared with the control (the control in 2002 was Simian No. 3, and the control in 2004 was Sumian No. 9), and a lint yield of 105.5 kg per mu, an average increase of 4.0% compared with the control; in the 2005 provincial production trial, the seed cotton yield was 211.0 kg per mu, an increase of 18.8% compared with the control Sumian No. 9, and the lint yield was 83.3 kg per mu, an increase of 12.0% compared with the control.
Emergence was good, and growth vigor was relatively strong; the plant was tower-shaped and relatively compact, with medium plant height, more stem hair, medium-sized leaves, darker leaf color, oval-round bolls, medium to large, and smooth boll opening. Average results of the provincial regional trial: growth period 140 days, plant height 112.72 cm, 17.69 fruiting branches, 27.83 bolls per plant, single boll seed cotton weight 5.74 g, large-sample lint percentage 39.51%, small-sample lint percentage 40.12%, seed index 10.17 g, pre-frost boll rate 82.99%. Fiber quality was tested by the Cotton Quality Supervision, Inspection and Testing Center of the Ministry of Agriculture (HVICC standard): fiber length 30.91 mm, uniformity 84.81%, specific strength 29.39 cN/tex, Micronaire value 4.44, spinning consistency index 145. Disease nursery identification results: Fusarium wilt index 10.43, Verticillium wilt index 19.03. Tolerant to Fusarium wilt, resistant to Verticillium wilt, and close to high resistance to cotton bollworm.
