Characteristics: The "Bashanzao" tea plant is a new semi-arboreal, medium-leaf, extremely early-sprouting variety. This variety has a semi-spreading tree posture, relatively dense branching, long internodes, plump buds and thick leaves, elliptical leaf shape, raised leaf surface, slightly wavy leaf margins, yellow-green bud and leaf color, rolled backward, medium sprouting density, uniform sprouting, strong bud cultivation ability, and good tenderness retention. It flushes 18-20d earlier than Fuding Dabaicha, with yield comparable to Fuding Dabaicha; compared with other new varieties selected from the Sichuan tea population (such as Tianfu No. 28, Huaqiu No. 1, etc.), its characteristics are distinct, with larger and thicker leaves, dark green color, and obvious purple buds and leaves in summer and autumn.

Yield performance: "Bashanzao" tea is rich in inclusions. The steamed green sample of one bud and two leaves contains 33.89% tea polyphenols, 5.01% amino acids, 151.86mg/g total catechins, 4.89% caffeine, and 47.64% water extract. It is suitable for making green tea, especially high-grade famous premium green tea. The finished tea is dark green and lustrous, with a rich chestnut aroma, a strong and mellow taste, fresh and sweet with a returning sweetness, and is resistant to multiple infusions.
