Detailed Guide to Common Gladiolus Disease Prevention and Control
Corm Rot
Symptoms: Corm rot mainly affects the lower tissues of the plant. Dark brown lesions appear on infected corms, and infected leaves turn yellow and wither.
Prevention and control methods: Before planting, select good corms, disinfect them with a 1000-fold potassium permanganate solution, and then plant them. Quicklime or formaldehyde can also be used to disinfect the soil. Diseased plants should be promptly removed to prevent infection of healthy plants.

Scab
Symptoms: Scab mainly affects the corms. When the disease occurs, pale yellow water-soaked lesions appear on the corms, which later turn dark brown. In severe cases, the corms and stem bases rot.
Prevention and control methods: Choose a cultivation site with good ventilation and drainage, promptly remove diseased plants, and keep the environment clean.
Common Gladiolus Disease Prevention and Control Methods
Common gladiolus diseases include corm rot, leaf blight, and others;
1. Corm rot:This disease frequently occurs during storage. After infection, yellowish-brown slightly sunken lesions appear on the corm surface, surrounded by black ulcer-like areas. When air humidity is high, the lesions expand rapidly, and a blue-green mold layer appears on the surface, causing the corm to shrivel and become hard and dry.
Preventive measures are:Be careful when digging up corms to avoid wounding them. After harvesting the corms, it is best to first soak them in cold water, then disinfect them with alcohol, dry them in the shade, and store them. Keep the storage room ventilated and dry, and maintain a low temperature of 4-5 degrees.
2. Leaf blight:This disease usually starts from the tips of the lower leaves of gladiolus, initially appearing as faded green yellow spots, and later the lesions dry up and develop a dark brown mold layer. The disease is more severe from July to September.
Preventive measures are:Before planting, peel off the dried scales of the corms. Soak the corms in 0.5% potassium permanganate for 15 minutes for disinfection. Alternatively, in the early stages of disease onset, spray with 800-**** fold Penjunjun solution, or 1% equal-strength Bordeaux mixture, or 50% zineb 1000-fold solution, once every 8-10 days.
Integrated Prevention and Control of Gladiolus Diseases
Integrated Prevention and Control of Gladiolus Diseases
It is a perennial herb of the genus Gladiolus in the family Iridaceae, and is one of the world's famous cut flowers. Its common diseases include leaf spot [Curvularia, Cladosporium], leaf blight (Pestalotiopsis), scab (Pseudomonas), gray mold (Botrytis), wilt (Fusarium), and viral diseases (BYMV, CMV).
Integrated prevention and control recommendations:
1) Disinfection:
① Corm disinfection: Formula - Liangdun 500-fold + Bihu 4000-fold + streptomycin 3000-fold + Fadongji 2000-fold, soak for 15-30 minutes, air dry.
② Medium disinfection: Formula 1 - quintozene 350g + Duo.Fu 400g, mix with 1 cubic meter of soil, stir evenly (use immediately).
Formula 2 - dazomet 1 kg mixed with 1 cubic meter of soil, cover for 20 days, air for 7 days (set aside for use).
2) Regular protection: Liangdun 1000-fold, Daconi 1000-fold, Dashengfu 500-fold, or Jinlei 750-fold.
3) Water and fertilizer combination:
High potassium: potassium nitrate 1500-fold.
High calcium and magnesium: calcium magnesium nitrate 1000-fold.
High phosphorus: monopotassium phosphate 2000-fold.
