A Detailed Guide to Identifying and Controlling Common Diseases of the Spider Lily
Anthracnose
Symptoms: Anthracnose is a fungal disease that mainly affects the leaves of the plant and is highly detrimental to its growth.
Control methods: Promptly prune and burn the diseased leaves. Before flowering in spring, spray a 600-fold dilution of 40% sulfur-carbendazim suspension. Keep the environment moist and avoid over-applying nitrogen fertilizer.

Leaf Blight
Symptoms: Leaf blight mainly affects the leaves, flowers and bulbs. Brown lesions appear on the leaves, causing them to dry up.
Control methods: First promptly prune the diseased and withered leaves. Spray once a week with a 1000-fold dilution of 50% Shujunwang water-soluble powder or a 500-fold dilution of 40% chlorothalonil suspension.
Diseases of the Spider Lily and Their Control
Spider Lily Anthracnose
Anthracnose
Spider lilies are frequently affected by anthracnose, which damages the leaves and hinders the plant's growth.
Anthracnose is a fungal disease caused by fungi of the order Melanconiales, subdivision Deuteromycotina. The pathogen can spread through rainwater, and in warm, humid regions the disease can occur year-round. A damp, shaded growing environment or excessive nitrogen fertilization can easily trigger this disease.
Control methods
When the disease is detected, prune the affected leaves and burn them.
Before flowering in spring, spray 2-3 times to prevent the disease. Alternate between a 600-fold dilution of 40% sulfur-carbendazim suspension, a 800-**** fold dilution of 50% Shibaogong wettable powder, or a 500-fold dilution of 25% Tanteling.
Also, be careful not to over-apply nitrogen fertilizer, keep the potting soil slightly moist, and drain promptly after rain.
Spider Lily Leaf Blight
Leaf Blight
Spider lily leaf blight is also known as spider lily tip burn. Leaf blight mainly affects the leaves, flowers and bulbs of the plant. Lesions appear on the leaves and expand, severely causing the leaves to dry up.
Leaf blight is also a fungal disease, spread by wind, rain and watering, occurring from January to November each year.
Control methods
When spider lily leaf blight breaks out, promptly prune the diseased and withered leaves.
Spray a 1000-fold dilution of 50% Shujunwang water-soluble powder, a 500-fold dilution of 40% chlorothalonil suspension, or a 600-fold dilution of 30% copper oxychloride suspension, once every 7-15 days.
Spider Lily Brown Spot
Brown Spot
When brown spot breaks out on spider lilies, it mainly affects the leaves. With heavy rainfall, the damage is more severe.
Brown spot is also a disease caused by fungi.
Control methods
Promptly remove diseased leaves when found. In late autumn, thoroughly clear away diseased leaves and burn them in a centralized manner to reduce the source of inoculum.
Spray a 800-fold dilution of 25% benomyl·cyclohexylzinc emulsifiable concentrate or a 500-fold dilution of 75% mancozeb wettable powder for control, once every 10 days or so, for 3-4 consecutive applications.
Control of Common Pests and Diseases of the Spider Lily
The main diseases includeleaf spotandleaf scorch. When only a small amount is found, remove and destroy the diseased leaves. In severe cases, spray a 500-fold dilution of 75% mancozeb wettable powder for control.
