How to Control the Size of White Button Mushrooms? Detailed Explanation of Effective Measures
In recent years, the market's requirements for the quality of white button mushrooms have been continuously rising. Large mushrooms are no longer popular, and some mushroom growers, unable to keep up with market demand for commercial mushrooms of a certain specification, end up with increased production but no increased income. In recent years, the market's requirements for the quality of white button mushrooms have been continuously rising. Large mushrooms are no longer popular, and some mushroom growers, unable to keep up with market demand for commercial mushrooms of a certain specification, end up with increased production but no increased income. The following measures can be adopted to control their specifications.
Replacing the strain The currently widely used strain "2796" is a large-particle variety, whose main advantages are wide adaptability, strong stress resistance, large size, and high yield, but relatively few meet the required specifications. Therefore, when there is an order contract, a small-particle strain can be substituted.
Changing the casing soil When the casing soil layer is relatively thick, the mycelium is densely distributed throughout the soil layer, but it is not easy to knot. Once it knots and forms primordia, the surrounding mycelium concentrates the supply of nutrients and water, which will inevitably grow into large fruiting bodies. Normally the casing soil is 3-5 cm thick; adjusting it to a casing soil thickness of 2 cm makes the mycelium knot and form primordia easily, and when primordia form, survival competition arises, making it less likely to produce large mushrooms.
Appropriately raising the temperature The suitable growth temperature for white button mushrooms is 15-20°C. Appropriately raising the shed temperature can effectively increase the number of primordia, keeping the size of the fruiting bodies mostly at a medium-to-below-medium level.
