Key Technical Points for Interplanting Black Wood Ear Mushrooms in Orchards
Interplanting black wood ear mushrooms in trenches between orchard rows yields fairly considerable returns. The main cultivation methods are as follows: 1. Stock culture substrate formula: sawdust 78%, rice bran (or wheat bran) 5%, corncob 15%, gypsum powder 1%, sucrose 1%. Weigh each ingredient according to the above proportions. Interplanting black wood ear mushrooms in trenches between orchard rows yields fairly considerable returns. The main cultivation methods are as follows:
1. Stock culture substrate formula: sawdust 78%, rice bran (or wheat bran) 5%, corncob 15%, gypsum powder 1%, sucrose 1%. Weigh each ingredient according to the above proportions. First dissolve the sucrose in water, then stir the sawdust, rice bran and gypsum powder evenly, spray the sugar water onto the substrate, stirring while mixing.
2. Bagging: Put the substrate into plastic bags, use a small wooden stick to punch an air vent from top to bottom in the center of the substrate, plug it with a cotton plug, then sterilize.
3. Mycelium culture: Inoculate the stock culture into the sterilized substrate in the plastic bags, place them in a darkened room for culture. After about 50 days the mycelium will have grown throughout the entire bag, and at this point it enters the fruiting stage.
4. Trenching: Dig trenches 1 m deep and 1 m wide between orchard rows, lay several wooden sticks across the top of the trenches for hanging the bags, and disinfect the trenches once two days before fruiting.
5. Punching and tying: Take the spawn bags out of the room, soak them in a 0.2% thiophanate disinfectant solution, then use sterilized scissors to cut 8 soybean-sized holes in the walls of the spawn bags. Remove the cotton plugs and plastic rings from both ends of the spawn bags, tie them tightly with string about 1 m long, and move them to the edge of the trench.
6. Hanging the bags: Rest the spawn bags on the wooden sticks over the trench, place the spawn bags vertically into the trench in 4 layers, keeping a distance of 20 cm between bags.
7. Management during the fruiting stage: After hanging the bags, spray clean water once inside the trench. As the wood ear mushrooms grow, humidity should be increased, and watering should be done in small amounts but frequently. The ideal temperature is 23°C-24°C. Every few days, change the positions of the upper and lower bags so they fully receive a certain amount of direct and diffused light. Every 3 days, fan the trench to ventilate it, ensuring the oxygen demand during the fruiting stage.
8. Harvesting: When the fruiting bodies grow to 6 cm-12 cm, they can be harvested, and after harvesting they are dried in the air.
