During the cultivation of king oyster mushrooms, growers often fail to carry out the necessary bud thinning in time, which leads to many small mushroom buds growing on both sides of the mushroom bag after primordium differentiation, ranging from a few to as many as dozens.
However, due to the limitations of nutrients and space, most of these buds cannot develop into marketable mushrooms and lose their commercial value. Therefore, after primordium differentiation in king oyster mushrooms, bud thinning must be carried out promptly to avoid wasting nutrients. The principle of bud thinning is to select buds that are well positioned, properly shaped and similar in size when the buds have just formed, leaving 3-5 per side, and when the fruiting bodies have grown to about two cm, carry out another round of selection, leaving 2-3 per side. In this way, the king oyster mushrooms can be ensured to grow large and have relatively high commercial value.
