Water management is very important for autumn cultivation of button mushrooms
Casing soil is a technical measure unique to button mushroom production. Before casing, pay attention to the following aspects: (1) The surface of the compost should remain dry; if the surface is too wet, ventilate. (2) Check for contaminating microorganisms and pests; once found, measures must be taken. (3) The compost surface should be given a "..."
To achieve stable and high yields of autumn button mushrooms, focus on the following aspects.Water management is key: with proper watering, the mycelium grows vigorously, many fruiting bodies form, and the number of flushes increases; with too much water, the mycelium will shrink and recede, few primordia form, and the mushroom fruiting bodies will show "rust ling" and "red root"; with insufficient water, the fruiting bodies will not be plump and will show flat caps, sunken caps, or scales on the surface. Water management should focus mainly on increasing the relative humidity of the air; when spraying water, it should be flexibly controlled according to the fruiting situation, the dryness or moisture of the compost and casing layer, and changes in the weather. Generally, spray more when there are many mushrooms, spray more on sunny days, and spray more when the compost and casing layer are relatively dry; otherwise, spray less. When spraying water, point the nozzle toward the sunny side and do not spray directly.
