Detailed Explanation of Key Techniques for Spring Management of Shiitake Mushrooms

Mushroom Cultivation 0 views
The shaggy ink cap, also known as Coprinus comatus, gets its Chinese name "chicken-leg mushroom" because its fruiting body resembles a chicken leg and its flesh tastes like shredded chicken. It has high edible and medicinal value. Through repeated practice, the author cultivated shaggy ink cap mushrooms directly in the open field using whole straw (rice straw, wheat straw, grass straw, etc.) and achieved a good return of 150 kg of mushrooms per 100 kg of dry straw. The method is as follows...
Spring is the peak period for shiitake mushroom fruiting. The Anyang County Agriculture Bureau organized technical personnel to carry out technical training. For spring management of shiitake mushrooms, growers should do the following:
I. Watering management should depend on the weather
Spray water when the surface of the mushroom logs is slightly dry on sunny days. Generally, after harvesting mushrooms in the morning, use a sprayer to spray water on the surface of the logs, let them air for 30 minutes, then cover with plastic film. Note: do not spray on cloudy or rainy days, do not spray before harvesting, and do not spray when the logs are already moist.
II. Covering the mushroom bed with film should be flexible
Uncover the film for ventilation each day when harvesting mushrooms, and cover it again after harvesting. When the temperature is above 20°C, uncover both ends of the film for ventilation; on muggy days and rainy days, uncover the film completely. When the logs are soaked in water and returned to the mushroom bed, if low temperatures or a cold wave occur, cover the film tightly for 3 days to keep warm. When the temperature is above 25°C, uncover the film for ventilation 2 to 3 times per day.
III. Alternating wet and dry conditions should be moderate
After each flush of mushrooms is harvested, uncover the film for ventilation for 8 to 10 hours. Spray water on sunny days, and cover the film tightly during the day to allow the mycelium to recover. After 12 midnight, ventilate for 1 hour to promote the formation of mushroom buds, for 3 to 4 consecutive days.
IV. Mycelium cleanup should be timely
After each flush of mushrooms is harvested, use a small knife to remove the parts of the logs covered with mold, arrange the logs neatly on the mushroom bed, let them ventilate, and cover with film after they dry slightly.
