To make shiitake mushrooms high-yielding, you can refer to the following methods:
Dense inoculation increases the inoculation points on the log segments; more inoculation points mean a larger colonized area, allowing the mycelium to penetrate the log segments in a shorter time. The log segments exchange gases with the outside mainly by absorbing and evaporating water; the alternating wet and dry water movement can supply sufficient oxygen to the interior of the log segments, enabling the mycelium to grow deep into the log segments and feed on the substrate, thereby accelerating the maturation of the log segments and reducing the chance of contamination by competing fungi. Deep inoculation: deep inoculation holes hold more spawn, which helps enhance drought resistance and reduces the temperature-difference stimulation from the outside on the spawn blocks at the bottom of the holes. Under relatively constant temperature and humidity conditions, the mycelium inside the spawn blocks will germinate quickly, and the survival rate will be improved. Drilling deep holes increases the depth along the tangential direction of the wood, allowing the mycelium to absorb more sufficient nutrients, and the yield will be greatly increased. Early inoculation: under low-temperature conditions, the density of competing fungal spores in the air is low and their activity is low, so they are not likely to germinate into mycelium, while shiitake mycelium can colonize under relatively low-temperature conditions, and it has strong resistance, grows robustly, and has a high survival rate.
