How do you control yellow blotch disease in button mushrooms? Please explain the methods
In the early stage of infection by yellow blotch disease in button mushrooms, small spot-like pale yellow diseased areas appear on the cap. As the fruiting body grows, the areas expand and infect other fruiting bodies, after which the color darkens and the areas spread to the entire cap. In the late stage of infection, the mushroom body secretes yellow-brown water droplets, the diseased plants stop growing, then shrink and die. Yellow blotch disease is a disease caused by Pseudomonas bacteria, a bacterial pathogen; this pathogen prefers high temperature and high humidity environments, and the disease is especially easily triggered when the temperature remains stable above 20°C, the humidity is above 95%, and the carbon dioxide concentration is relatively high. Even when the temperature is around 15°C, if the mushroom shed humidity approaches saturation (100%) and there is no ventilation, the disease still has a relatively high incidence rate. When the water used in the substrate and mushroom shed is not clean, the incidence rate of the disease is also very high.
Prevention and control measures: First, do a good job of environmental sanitation, strictly disinfect the casing soil, and eliminate pests. Second, the water used for spraying must be clean water; never spray with the shed closed or spray excessive water, to prevent the mushroom surface from being in a waterlogged state for a long time and the soil surface from becoming too wet. Third, strictly prevent excessive humidity in the mushroom house during the fruiting body growth period. Strengthen ventilation to reduce the carbon dioxide concentration in the shed to below 0.5%, lower the shed humidity, and especially during seasonal periods when heat preservation is needed, control the air humidity at around 85%. Fourth, once fruiting bodies develop the disease, ventilate to reduce the humidity in the mushroom house and spray a 600-fold bleaching powder solution, but note that after spraying, the shed should be closed for 1-2 hours. Then ventilation should be strengthened immediately to lower the shed temperature.
