How should corn borers be controlled properly? Please explain the methods. Corn borers can be controlled by referring to the following methods: Controlling corn borers at the corn whorl stage: for fields with a damaged-leaf rate of 10%, carry out full treatment at the end of the whorl stage; where the damaged-leaf rate is below 10%, selective treatment may be done as appropriate; where the damaged-leaf rate exceeds 20% or there are more than 30 egg masses per 100 plants, treat once at the mid-whorl stage and once at the end of the whorl stage respectively...

Corn borers can be controlled by referring to the following methods:
Controlling corn borers at the corn whorl stage: for fields with a damaged-leaf rate of 10%, carry out full treatment at the end of the whorl stage; where the damaged-leaf rate is below 10%, selective treatment may be done as appropriate; where the damaged-leaf rate exceeds 20% or there are more than 30 egg masses per 100 plants, treat once at the mid-whorl stage and once at the end of the whorl stage respectively. Generally, place 1-2 grams of 1.5% phoxim granules or 0.4% deltamethrin granules into the whorl of each plant; or use 50 grams of 90% trichlorfon crystals or 50 milliliters of 50% dichlorvos emulsifiable concentrate per mu, add 40-50 kilograms of water, and pour into the whorl.
Controlling corn borers at the corn ear stage: for fields with an infested-ear rate of 10% or 50 larvae on the silks per 100 ears, apply pesticide during the peak silking stage; where the infested-ear rate exceeds 30%, apply pesticide once more 6-8 days after application at the peak silking stage. Any one of the above pesticides may be chosen and scattered on the corn silks and in the leaf axils of the two leaves above and below. For severe damage, cut off the silks and smear a layer of pesticide mud on the top of the ear; the pesticide mud is made by dissolving 50 grams of 90% trichlorfon crystals in 15 kilograms of water, then adding 27 kilograms of clay and mixing into a slurry.
