Nanwang Qiying Village, located in Gu'an County, Langfang City, Hebei Province, has a history of flower and tree cultivation spanning more than 300 years. In recent years, the village has leveraged its traditional strengths to vigorously develop the flower planting industry, forging a path of professionalization, scaling up and industrialization, and has become a well-known specialized village for flower and tree cultivation, hailed as "the No. 1 flower village south of Beijing." In 2014, the village's flower industry revenue exceeded 100 million yuan, with per capita income of more than 100,000 yuan.

The villagers' lives have become more prosperous, their lifestyles more comfortable, and their living environment better. Through renovating their homes, toilets and kitchens, and by using new technologies and new energy sources, the villagers have improved their living environment and raised their quality of life.

In the past, coal-fired boilers were used for heating in winter. Now the villagers have installed solar equipment on their roofs for heating, which is safe, convenient, energy-saving and environmentally friendly. "For this solar equipment, the government provides part of the subsidy and we pay the rest ourselves. It saves energy and is environmentally friendly, can be used permanently, and is very convenient," villager Mr. Zhao told reporters.

In the past, the villagers' toilets were mainly pit latrines. Now they use double-vault toilets, which combine waste collection with harmless treatment. Through sealed storage in the vaults, anaerobic fermentation and sedimentation into layers, bacteria, viruses and parasite eggs in the excrement and urine are killed and removed, achieving harmless treatment. "In the old toilets, flies and mosquitoes flew everywhere. Now the toilets are clean and tidy, and the fertilizer can be reused. It's very convenient," villager Mr. Zhao said.

Today's Nanwang Qiying Village has a clean and tidy environment, with flowers in the courtyards for three seasons and evergreen greenery all year round. Every household grows flowers, and relying on the flower industry, per capita income can reach more than 100,000 yuan. The women organize themselves and choreograph their own dances to spend their leisure time.

Lush green trees, colorful flowers, neat and clean courtyards, clean and hygienic kitchens and toilets, and radiant villagers - here, life is so pleasant and inviting.

Three types of nursery stock, including big-leaf boxwood, sell well in summer, with prices tripling year-on-year

Although summer has already begun, the author recently learned during an interview in Nanwang Qiying Village, Bazhou City, Hebei Province, known as "the No. 1 flower village south of Beijing," that three types of nursery stock - big-leaf boxwood, golden-leaf privet and purple-leaf barberry - are still selling well.

Li Caifeng, deputy manager of Qinglin Nursery in Nanwang Qiying Village, happily told the author: "We can sell more than 10,000 big-leaf boxwood plants a day, and 7,000 to 8,000 purple-leaf barberry and golden-leaf privet plants a day. But I'm not the one selling the most; other nurseries sell more than I do." It is understood that these three major varieties not only sell in large quantities, but their prices have also risen a lot compared with last year. Among them, big-leaf boxwood rose by nearly double compared with last year, with a 30 cm crown-diameter big-leaf boxwood selling for 2.5 yuan per plant; the price of purple-leaf barberry also doubled, with a 30 cm crown-diameter plant selling for 2.4 yuan each; and golden-leaf privet saw the largest increase, three times that of last year, with seedlings that sold for 1 yuan last year now selling for 3 yuan.
