What are the effects of glyphosate and the precautions for its use?

Glyphosate is also known as: zhencaoning, Roundup, caoganlin, lungan acid. The pure product is a non-volatile white solid with a specific gravity of 0.5, melting at about 230°C with decomposition. At 25°C its solubility in water is 1.2%; it is insoluble in common organic solvents, while its isopropylamine salt dissolves completely in water. It is non-flammable, non-explosive, and stable when stored at room temperature. It is corrosive to medium carbon steel and galvanized iron sheet (tinplate).
Precautions for use
1. Glyphosate is a non-selective herbicide. When applying it, never let it contaminate crops, so as to avoid causing phytotoxicity.
2. For perennial malignant weeds such as cogongrass (Imperata cylindrica) and purple nutsedge (Cyperus rotundus), apply the herbicide once more 1 month after the first application to achieve the desired control effect.
3. Adding an appropriate amount of diesel oil or laundry detergent to the spray solution can improve the efficacy.
4. Applying the herbicide on sunny days and at high temperatures gives good results. If it rains within 4-6 hours after spraying, re-spray.
