Correct methods for using different pesticide formulations

There are many types of pesticides, and their application methods differ as well. If applied improperly, they can easily cause phytotoxicity or be ineffective for control. Below is an introduction to the characteristics and usage methods of several different pesticide formulations:
Dustable powders
Dustable powders are not easily soluble in water and generally cannot be sprayed with added water. Low-concentration dustable powders are used for dusting, while high-concentration dustable powders are used to prepare poisonous soil, poisoned bait, seed dressing, and soil treatment, etc. Dustable powders are convenient to use and highly efficient, and are best used in the early morning or evening when there is no wind or only a slight breeze.
Wettable powders
They are highly hygroscopic and can disperse or suspend in water after adding water. They can be used for spraying, poisoned bait, and soil treatment, etc.
Soluble powders
They can be directly mixed with water for spraying or splashing irrigation.
Emulsifiable concentrates
After adding water, emulsifiable concentrates become emulsion liquids and can be used for spraying, splashing irrigation, seed dressing, seed soaking, poisonous soil, stem painting, etc.
Ultra-low-volume formulations
These are pesticides used directly for spraying and are specially matched pesticides for ultra-low-volume spraying. They cannot be mixed with water during use.
Granules and microgranules
These are pesticide formulations made into granules from technical pesticide materials and fillers. This type of formulation is not prone to causing phytotoxicity. They are mainly used for pouring into leaf whorls, broadcasting, spot application, seed dressing, furrow application, etc.
Slow-release formulations
During use, the pesticide is slowly released, which can effectively prolong the duration of efficacy. Therefore, the residual effect period is extended, and pollution and toxicity are reduced. The usage method is generally the same as that of granules.
Smoke formulations
Smoke formulations are fine powders or tablet-shaped substances made from technical pesticide materials, fuels, oxidants, combustion-supporting agents, etc. This type of formulation vaporizes when heated and then condenses in the air into solid particles, forming smoke. It is mainly used to control pests and diseases in forests, protected agriculture, and warehouse pests.
