What are the effects of carbendazim? A detailed guide to usage precautions

Carbendazim, also known as cotton wilt spirit and other names, has a technical-grade product that is a light brown powder. It is relatively stable to heat and is also stable under alkaline conditions. It has low toxicity to humans and livestock. The formulations commonly used in orchards include 25% and 50% carbendazim wettable powder, as well as 40% carbendazim suspension concentrate. Below, the editor will introduce the effects and usage precautions of carbendazim!
What are the effects of carbendazim?
Carbendazim is a broad-spectrum systemic fungicide that can be absorbed by plant seeds, roots and leaves, and can be translocated within plant tissues. It has protective and curative effects. Using a 50% carbendazim 800-1000 times dilution, it can control various fungal diseases on jujube trees such as anthracnose, leaf spot disease and fruit rot disease. To improve the control effect on fruit diseases, 0.03%-0.05% sticker can be added to the spray solution.
Carbendazim can be mixed with general fungicides, but when mixed with insecticides and acaricides it should be used immediately after mixing, and note that it must not be mixed with strongly alkaline agents or copper-containing formulations. Continuous use of carbendazim can easily lead to pathogen resistance, so it should be used in rotation or mixed with other agents. Because thiophanate-methyl and carbendazim have cross-resistance, it is not suitable to use thiophanate-methyl as an agent for rotation with carbendazim.
Usage precautions for carbendazim
1. Stop use 5 days before vegetable harvest. This agent must not be mixed with strongly alkaline agents or copper-containing agents, and should be used in rotation with other agents.
2. Do not use carbendazim alone over the long term, and do not rotate it with similar agents such as thiophanate, benomyl and thiophanate-methyl. In areas where resistance to carbendazim has developed, do not continue using it by increasing the dosage per unit area; it should be resolutely discontinued.
3. It has mixed formulations with sulfur, mixed amino acid copper·zinc·manganese·magnesium, mancozeb, amobam, thiram, ziram, quintozene, prothiocarb carbendazim, dimethachlon, bromothalonil, diethofencarb, validamycin and others; it can be mixed with fenaminosulf, mancozeb, chlorothalonil, wuyiencin and others.
4. It should be stored in a cool, dry place.
Targets of carbendazim
1. To control powdery mildew and blight of cucurbits, early blight of tomato, anthracnose and blight of beans, and sclerotinia disease of rapeseed, use 100-200 grams of 50% wettable powder per mu, dilute with water and spray at the early stage of disease onset, spraying 2 times in total with an interval of 5-7 days.
2. To control gray mold of Welsh onion and Chinese chives, spray with 300 times dilution of 50% wettable powder; to control sclerotinia disease of eggplant and cucumber, anthracnose of cucurbits and kidney bean, and powdery mildew of pea, spray with 500 times dilution of 50% wettable powder; to control sclerotinia disease of cruciferous vegetables, tomato, lettuce and kidney bean, and gray mold of tomato, cucumber and kidney bean, spray with 600-800 times dilution of 50% wettable powder; to control white spot disease of cruciferous vegetables, coal mold disease of cowpea and early blight (leaf spot disease) of celery, spray with 700-800 times dilution of 50% wettable powder. For all the above sprays, apply the first treatment at the early stage of disease onset, spray once every 7-10 days, and spray continuously 2-3 times.
3. To control fusarium wilt of tomato, dress seeds at 0.3-0.5% of seed weight; to control fusarium wilt of kidney bean, dress seeds at 0.5% of seed weight, or soak seeds with 60-120 times dilution for 12-24 hours.
4. To control damping-off and seedling blight of vegetables at the seedling stage, uniformly mix 1 part of 50% wettable powder into 1000-1500 parts of semi-dry fine soil. When sowing, spread the medicated soil into the sowing furrow and then cover with soil, using 10-15 kg of medicated soil per square meter.
5. To control fusarium wilt of cucumber and tomato and verticillium wilt of eggplant, drench the roots with 500 times dilution of 50% wettable powder, pouring 0.3-0.5 kg of the solution per plant; in heavily affected plots, drench a second time after an interval of 10 days.
6. It has a certain effect on controlling excessive growth in peanuts.
