The shaggy mane mushroom is a common edible mushroom. Would you like to try growing it yourself? In fact, growing it is quite easy. As long as you have the needed materials and pay a little extra care, you can cultivate shaggy mane mushrooms.

1. Cultivation materials Main materials: horse manure, cow dung, wheat straw, rice straw, cottonseed hulls and mixed wood shavings. Supplementary materials: bran, rice bran, cornmeal, compound fertilizer, gypsum powder and vitamin B1.

2. Suitable conditions. The most suitable growing temperature for the shaggy mane mushroom is 22-28 degrees. During artificial cultivation, when the temperature is 16-24 degrees, the fruiting bodies form in the greatest number and the yield is the highest. The water content of the shaggy mane mushroom compost is best at 60%-70%, and the relative air humidity during the mycelium growth period is about 80%. When the fruiting bodies form, the relative air humidity should be 85%-95%. The mycelium of the shaggy mane mushroom does not need light to grow, but both the differentiation of mushroom buds and the development and growth of the fruiting bodies require 500-1000 lux of light. When cultivated in a mushroom house, ventilation and air exchange should be carried out 4-8 times per hour during the fruiting body formation period. Both the culture medium and the casing soil material are most suitable at 6-7. The formation of shaggy mane mushroom fruiting bodies requires the stimulation of casing soil and soil microbial metabolites.

3. Compost preparation: 40 kg of chopped rice straw, 1 kg of urea, 40 kg of corn stalk powder, 20 kg of horse manure (crushed dry manure), 2 kg of phosphate fertilizer, 3 kg of lime, 150 kg of water.

4. Cultivation techniques: Mix the compost thoroughly, pile it to a height of 1 m and a width of 1.2-15 m, cover with plastic film to keep it warm, and maintain it at 60-70 degrees for 10 hours, then turn the pile. When the temperature again reaches 60-70 degrees, maintain it for another 10 hours, and the fermentation is complete. After cooling, spread it on a previously prepared bed surface, with a material thickness of 10-20 cm, and sow in 3 layers, using an amount of spawn equal to 15% of the compost. After sowing is complete, level the surface of the compost, press it down lightly, and finally cover with 5 cm of loam soil, or first cover with plastic film to keep it warm and retain moisture. After the mycelium has grown well, remove the plastic film and apply casing soil: first apply coarse soil, then apply fine soil, and spray water to retain moisture.

5. Timely harvesting: The fruiting bodies of the shaggy mane mushroom mature quickly, and they must be harvested during the mushroom bud stage, when the annulus has just loosened and curled hair-like scales appear on the bell-shaped cap.
