The weather is hot in summer, so how should straw mushrooms be planted in summer?

The following methods can be used for planting straw mushrooms in summer:

Preparation of mushroom beds. The mushroom beds are set up inside a plastic greenhouse, and the greenhouse is covered with film and straw mats to preserve warmth and moisture. The mushroom beds are 1 m wide, with no limit on length, and the spacing between mushroom beds is 30 cm, which can serve both as walkways and as water storage ditches. On the beds, recessed mushroom trays are dug crosswise. The mushroom trays are 30 cm wide and 20 cm deep, with 20 cm small soil ridges left between the mushroom trays. Inside the mushroom trays, 0.2% dichlorvos and 0.1% carbendazim are sprayed to sterilize and kill insects.

Straw treatment. Cut rice straw or wheat straw into small pieces 3 cm long, soak them for 24 hours in 2% lime water plus 0.5% compound fertilizer, then remove them, drain off excess water, and set aside for use.

Selecting good spawn. The straw mushroom cultivation spawn selected should not be more than 18 days old, and the best is spawn with vigorous mycelium and brownish-red chlamydospores.

Cultivation method. Evenly spread the rice straw pieces or wheat straw pieces in the dug mushroom trays. Spread one layer of straw pieces, then one layer of bran and one layer of spawn. The amount of bran used is 5%, and the amount of spawn used is 10%. The top layer of spawn should be slightly more, then scatter the soil from the small soil ridges onto the surface of the material to a height of 10-12 cm, and press the culture material firmly with a wooden board. After the culture material is placed on the beds, build small arched sheds crosswise along the mushroom beds. The arched sheds are about 50 cm high and covered with film on top to preserve warmth. The water storage ditches between the beds should be filled with water to keep the relative humidity in the greenhouse not lower than 80% and the air temperature not lower than 28°C. After 48 hours, the film on the small arched sheds can be opened for ventilation.

Management after fruiting. From sowing to the appearance of mushroom buds generally takes 9-10 days, and 3-4 days after budding they can be harvested.

Management after harvesting. After harvesting, do not spray water. Cover with film for two days to allow the mycelium to recover growth, and then continue fruiting management. Before each fruiting, spray once with a 0.1% urea water solution to promote the growth of straw mushrooms.
