Do you know what coffee grounds are good for? As far as we know, they can be used as a raw material for dehumidifying and deodorizing, and they are also rich in nutrients. Because of these rich nutrients, some people saw a business opportunity and started using coffee grounds to grow mushrooms. This can both reduce the amount of waste produced in cities and give people fresh, healthy food, killing two birds with one stone. Let's take a look below.

1. Materials needed to grow mushrooms with coffee grounds: coffee grounds, edible mushroom spawn (spores), a spray bottle, plastic film,a large plastic bag (transparent, 10-20 liters)

2. The specific process:

1. First, fill the plastic bag with soil and coffee grounds. Besides coffee grounds, you can mix in some cottonseed hulls, corn cobs, sawdust, grass meal, and add an appropriate amount of lime, which is used for disinfection and sterilization. Of course, do not fill it full at first.

2. Drill many small holes along the sides of the plastic bag. The drilled holes should be spread out fairly evenly. These holes are used to release carbon dioxide.

3. The soil medium should be kept slightly moist. If it is too dry, spray it with a spray bottle to moisten it. Sprinkle the spawn into the bucket and keep the temperature at around 20 degrees, preferably in a constant-temperature environment. Place it in a dark corner. The reason for using transparent plastic film is so you can see the growth of the spores inside.

4. Place it in a damp, dark corner. You can poke a few holes in the plastic film and wait for them to sprout.

5. After sprouting, carefully cover with soil, add a 3~5 cm layer of coffee grounds, spray water, and keep it slightly moist. After that, turn over and spread further. Generally, after 15~20 days, very obvious changes can be seen.

6. After the mushrooms sprout, the temperature should be lowered a bit. Around 15~18 degrees is most suitable. A cool windowsill is also fairly suitable. The most important thing when cultivating mushrooms is a warm, constant-temperature environment. If the temperature fluctuates a lot, it will be very difficult to succeed. Spray water once every 1~2 days to keep it slightly moist. Once the caps have fully opened, they are ready to harvest!
