Nutritional requirements
The king oyster mushroom is an edible fungus with a strong ability to break down cellulose, lignin and protein. It can absorb and utilize the carbon and nitrogen sources in various agricultural by-products and in the materials used for cultivating oyster mushrooms. Cottonseed hulls, waste cotton, hardwood sawdust, corncobs and other main materials are especially good, and adding an appropriate amount of wheat bran, rice bran, cornmeal and other supplements to increase the nitrogen source gives the best results. This is because the richer the nitrogen source, the better the mycelium grows and the higher the yield.
Temperature and humidity
During the mycelium growth stage, the moisture content of the substrate is 60%-65%, and the optimum temperature is 20°C-26°C. During the fruiting body growth and development stage, the relative humidity of the air should be 85%-95%, and the temperature should be regulated between 10°C-25°C, with 15°C-18°C being optimal.
Light and air
The mycelium growth stage does not require light, but it does require fresh air. During the fruiting stage, provide 500-1000 lux of light or scattered light and strengthen ventilation. With poor ventilation, the mycelium grows slowly, primordium differentiation is delayed, and the mushroom buds shrivel.
pH
During the mycelium growth stage, the optimum pH of the substrate is 6.5-7.5, and during the fruiting stage the pH is 5.5-6.5.
