Tobacco seeds are small, and the seedlings grow slowly, so they are often harmed by weeds. The main weeds include: foxtail, Chinese sprangletop, barnyardgrass, goosegrass, shortawn foxtail, cocklebur, flatsedge, cleavers, chickweed, plantain, dandelion, etc.

Weed control in tobacco fields can be divided into seedbed control and field control. And 50% napropamide wettable powder is the best choice for controlling weeds in tobacco fields. According to efficacy trials conducted by some pesticide testing institutes, 50% napropamide wettable powder achieves over 90% comprehensive fresh weight control efficacy against weeds in tobacco fields, basically controlling the harm of weeds to tobacco.

For different growth stages of tobacco fields, the specific application methods and dosages differ:

1. When controlling weeds in seedbeds, pre-sowing soil treatment is generally used, that is, 3 to 5 days before sowing, with a dosage of 100-120 g/667 sq m, diluted in 50 kg of water, fully shaken, and evenly sprayed on the soil surface of the seedbed, then harrowed and mixed into the soil to a depth of 5 cm, followed by immediate sowing. A post-sowing pre-emergence application method can also be used, that is, using 50% napropamide wettable powder at 100-150 g/667 sq m, diluted in 50 kg of water, fully shaken, and sprayed evenly on the soil surface.

2. When controlling weeds in tobacco fields, soil treatment can be carried out before transplanting. 3 to 5 days before transplanting, use 50% napropamide wettable powder at 100-200 g/667 sq m, diluted in 50 kg of water, evenly sprayed on the soil surface of the whole field, harrowed and mixed into the soil to a depth of 5 cm within 3 to 5 days, followed by immediate transplanting. Alternatively, spray treatment after transplanting can be used. Within 5 to 7 days after transplanting, when the tobacco seedlings have survived, use 50% napropamide wettable powder at 100-150 g/667 sq m, diluted in 50 kg of water, and evenly spray the soil surface along the seedling band.

50% napropamide wettable powder has high activity, and the dosage is only half that of Devrinol, with a greater margin of safety. It is safe for the growth and development of tobacco seedlings and has a significant yield-increasing effect. After application, it is adsorbed by the soil and will not be washed away by rain or leach through. Its half-life in soil is 15 days, with no environmental pollution. It is safe for the treated crop and subsequent crops such as wheat, cotton, soybean, peanut and many other crops. However, crops such as sugar beet, celery, sorghum, corn and fennel are relatively sensitive to napropamide, and treated plots should not be planted with them within 3 months.
