Cultivating white fungus requires selecting a suitable cultivation period based on its biological characteristics and in combination with the climate environment of the cultivation region. Usually, inoculation and cultivation are arranged in spring from March to April and in autumn from September to October. If temperature can be regulated, it can be cultivated all year round.

    1. Spring cultivation. It should be carried out when the local daily minimum temperature is stable above 12°C. If cultivation is too early, the temperature is low, and even with heating it is difficult to reach the optimal temperature for white fungus growth; if cultivation is too late, spring temperatures rise quickly, and by late May the temperature is high, which is unfavorable for the growth and development of white fungus.

    2. Autumn cultivation. It should be carried out when the local daily maximum temperature is stable below 28°C. If autumn cultivation is too early, the temperature is too high, and high temperatures will affect the vitality of the mycelium, making it difficult to produce fruiting bodies and also prone to rotting ears, etc.; if cultivation is too late, by the late stage of fruiting body development the temperature is low, and using fire heating and closing doors and windows for insulation results in high carbon dioxide content in the indoor air, causing the ear pieces to turn yellow and the base to become large. When the temperature is relatively low, the cultivation room needs heating to maintain the room temperature at 22-24°C, ensuring rapid growth and development of the white fungus.

Commonly used cultivation formulas: ① Cottonseed hulls 88%, wheat bran 8%, gypsum powder 2%, sucrose 1%, urea 0.2%, magnesium sulfate 0.3%, superphosphate 0.5%, appropriate amount of water. ② Cottonseed hulls 40%, corncob 40%, wheat bran 18%, gypsum powder 18%, urea 0.2%. ③ Cotton stalks (crushed) 70%, wheat bran 25%, gypsum powder 2%, sugar 1%, soybean powder 1.5%, magnesium sulfate 0.5%. ④ Sugarcane bagasse 75%, wheat bran 20%, soybean powder 1.3%, sugar 1.2%, gypsum powder 2%, magnesium sulfate 0.5%.
