For growing straw mushroom in summer, you can refer to the following cultivation methods:
1. Cultivation season: Straw mushroom is a high-temperature fungus. The suitable temperature range for the growth of straw mushroom mycelium is 15-40°C, with the optimum temperature being 30-35°C. The temperature for fruiting body growth is 26-34°C, and the optimum temperature is 28-30°C. Cultivation is generally carried out from June to August each year.
2. Cultivation materials: cottonseed hulls, rice straw, corncobs, wheat straw.
3. Material formulas: (1) Cottonseed hulls 100, wheat bran 5, monopotassium phosphate 0.3, superphosphate 0.5, carbendazim 0.2, lime 6, insecticide 0.1, water 140. (2) Corncobs 80, cottonseed hulls 20, monopotassium phosphate 0.3, superphosphate 0.5, carbendazim 0.2, lime 6, insecticide 0.1, water 140.
4. Piling and fermentation: After the cultivation materials are pre-wetted for 3-4 days, pile them up and raise the temperature. When mixing the materials, mix them evenly. The moisture content of the cultivation materials should be kept at about 65%; too much moisture makes it easy for contaminating bacteria to grow. Ferment for 3-4 days. When actinomycetes are seen, a vinous aroma is smelled, and the materials show a coffee color, adjust the cultivation material so that the pH value is 8-9, and then it can be moved into the shed for spawning.
5. Moving into the shed and spawning: Since straw mushroom is mostly cultivated in the high-temperature summer season, idle greenhouses or arched sheds set up in fast-growing forests can be used to cultivate straw mushroom. The material should not be spread too thick; 15 cm thick is enough, and the cultivation bed should be 60 cm wide. The bed surface should be wavy. Hole spawning or layer spawning can be used, and holes should be made in the material layer. Cover with a small plastic tunnel to cultivate the mycelium and ventilate appropriately. Mushroom buds can be seen 7 days after spawning, and they can be marketed 10 days after spawning. During the straw mushroom growth process in the high-temperature season, water should be sprayed frequently. The water temperature should be similar to the shed temperature. Water can be stored in the shed for later use.
6. Fruiting management: The suitable temperature for the reproductive growth stage of straw mushroom is 26-34°C; scattered light should be used, and the light should be weak at the early stage of mycelial growth; from 4-5 days after planting until the end of fruiting, scattered light should be appropriately increased. The light intensity should be such that a newspaper can be read, and direct sunlight should be avoided. During the fruiting period, ventilation should be combined with water spraying to maintain moisture. During fruiting, before ventilating, first spray water on the ground and into the air, keep the relative humidity at 80-95%, and then ventilate for about 20 minutes, 2-3 times a day.
7. Harvesting: Generally 10-12 days after spawning, when the mushroom buds are the size of quail eggs, they can be harvested. Harvest once each in the morning, at noon, and in the evening to prevent the caps from opening and reducing commercial value. Each flush can be harvested continuously for about 20 days. After each harvest, various nutrient solutions can be sprayed on the surface of the material to extend the harvest period and increase the yield. After harvesting one flush, spray clarified lime water with a pH value of 12-14, with the water temperature the same as the shed temperature.
