How do you get oyster mushrooms through the summer? Please explain
Because summer temperatures are high, although the spawn-running period is short and mushrooms grow quickly, pests, diseases and contaminant fungi are highly active and cause serious damage. In production, the following measures are generally taken to help oyster mushrooms safely get through the summer.
1. Outside-ditch soil burial method
In a higher part of the ground outside the ditch, dig a soil pit of unlimited length and width and about 70 cm deep, and place the mushroom bags, whose surfaces have already been cleaned and which have been dried for 3 to 4 days, upright in rows into the pit. Then cover with 50 cm of moist soil, and add another 20 cm of wheat straw on top to prevent water accumulation. After the high temperatures have passed, take the mushroom bags out again and move them into the ditch, and manage them conventionally to produce mushrooms.
2. In-place dormancy method
Fit the ventilation holes of the ditch with gauze, and thicken the roof covering to 25 cm. Clean the surfaces of the substrate and dry for 4 days, then place the mushroom bags against both sides of the ditch, in 3 rows and 2 layers high. Cover with plastic (11290, -105.00, -0.92%) film, press the edges down tightly, strictly control the temperature and humidity inside the substrate, and reduce the metabolism of the mycelium. Spray pyrethroid pesticides frequently in the ditch to prevent insect damage. Check the temperature inside the bags frequently; when it exceeds 28°C, uncover the film to lower the temperature and ventilate. After getting through the summer, soak the mushroom bags, then stack them into mushroom walls to produce mushrooms.
