To increase the yield when growing oyster mushrooms in summer, you can refer to the following techniques:
Stop watering and dry out
When the temperature stays above 30°C for 7-8 consecutive days, the fruiting bodies that have already formed stop growing, and the mycelium no longer knots or differentiates. At this point, watering should be stopped immediately so that the bed surface dries out or develops cracks, after which clear water should be sprayed once every 15 days.
Tap the substrate and make holes
In late August, after the temperature drops, tap the substrate surface with a small bamboo pole to "startle the mycelium," then use a 20 mm diameter iron rod to make holes at intervals of 8-10 cm, spray 1 ppm triacontanol solution into the holes, then splash the substrate surface again so that water stands 1-2 cm deep on the substrate surface, and immediately cover with film to promote mycelial growth.
Increase the temperature difference
After covering with film for 3-5 days, once the mycelium has sprouted, raise the film on the raised bed so that the temperature inside the bed stays at 28°C-30°C. Around 3 p.m., cover with two layers of rice straw to keep it warm, and after 8 p.m., remove the straw covering and plastic film to lower the temperature, making the temperature difference reach more than 10°C, so as to stimulate the mycelium to knot and differentiate faster and form fruiting bodies as soon as possible.
Spray nutrient solution
In early autumn, after harvesting the first flush of mushrooms, remove the rhizomorphs and stop watering to rest the mycelium for 5-7 days. To increase the nutrients in the growing substrate, you can splash on mushroom tonic or another nutrient solution once. After stopping watering for two days, manage as usual until fruiting.
