The rice leaf roller, also known as the rice leaf roller worm, commonly called the leaf scraper, white leaf worm, leaf folder, etc., is a major pest during the rice growing period. This pest damages rice as larvae, binding leaves into longitudinal rolls, hiding inside and chewing the upper epidermis and mesophyll; the symptom is that the damaged leaves retain only the white lower epidermis. When the pest population density in the paddy field is high, white leaves can be seen all over the field, seriously affecting the normal growth, development and yield of rice, causing a yield reduction of 20-30% in mild cases and up to 50-60% in severe cases. Therefore, pesticide control must be strengthened to effectively reduce the damage. In recent years, agricultural technicians in various regions, through extensive investigation, research and experimental demonstrations, have screened out a group of safe and efficient pesticides for controlling the rice leaf roller, which can be used for reference in various regions. They are introduced as follows:

Control pesticides: per mu use 40 ml of 5% fipronil suspension concentrate, or 25 ml of 5% fipronil suspension concentrate + 60 ml of 20% triazophos emulsifiable concentrate, or 80 ml of 35% Suifeng emulsifiable concentrate, or 80-100 g of 35% Zongjuanqing wettable powder, or 50 ml of 20% LudeFu microemulsion, or 40 g of 98% cartap wettable powder, or 60 ml of 40% Bole emulsifiable concentrate, or 75-100 ml of 40% chlorpyrifos emulsifiable concentrate (used at the peak of egg hatching), or 60 ml of 40% Xinnongbao emulsifiable concentrate, etc.

At the same time, attention should be paid to mastering the control threshold, that is, during the tillering stage, whenever there are 20 larvae per 100 rice clumps, or 3000 new worm rolls per 667 sq m (mu), or more than 15 larvae per field around the booting stage, the field should be sprayed promptly for control.

In addition, the method of using the pesticide is to dilute with 50 kg of water and spray evenly over the paddy field at the peak of young larvae.
