Mist irrigation timing for wood ear mushrooms: every spring is the golden season for cultivating black fungus (wood ear mushroom), and mist irrigation at this time can yield 1-2 extra flushes of spring mushrooms, with this increased production accounting for more than 80% of the total increase. In early summer, if high temperatures (above 30°C) do not occur, using mist irrigation to lower the temperature and raise humidity can also allow harvesting 1-2 more flushes of mushrooms. Each mist irrigation session should last more than half an hour and less than two hours. The length of mist irrigation is closely related to conditions such as the dryness or humidity of the air, the temperature level, and the moisture content of the dried mushroom substrate; when the weather is dry, the temperature is high, and the moisture content of the dried mushroom substrate is low, the mist irrigation time can be appropriately extended, and conversely the mist irrigation time can be appropriately shortened.
Mist irrigation should preferably use intermittent water supply. In the early stage, the dried mushroom substrate absorbs water relatively quickly and water use efficiency is high; each mist irrigation session must not be less than half an hour, with an interval of about half an hour between two irrigations. In the middle and later stages, the irrigation interval can be appropriately extended to 1-1.5 hours.
Mist irrigation requirements for factory-based mushroom cultivation. If temperature control facilities are available for factory-based mushroom cultivation, it can be carried out all year round. During the stage of arranging bags (stacked in a wall style) for mushroom production, mist irrigation can be done once every 2-3 hours during the day, for half an hour each time; the room temperature is generally kept at 20°C-25°C, and the air humidity is maintained at 80%-90%. If high temperature weather occurs (exceeding 28°C), an additional mist irrigation should be added at noon to help lower the temperature and increase humidity, promoting the growth and development of the wood ear mushroom fruiting bodies.
