What pests and diseases affect bamboo fungus? What methods can effectively control them? We also ask experienced friends to help explainThe pests and diseases to be controlled in bamboo fungus cultivation are slime molds, smoke mold fungus, slugs, termites and mites. A detailed introduction and control methods are provided below for reference.
1.Harm of slime molds:
Slime molds occur on the exposed soil of the bamboo fungus bed or on the covering rice straw. In the early stage they are sticky and slimy, can deform and move, and appear milky white, orange-yellow or yellow-green, causing the mycelium to be inhibited or gradually die out, and in severe cases the bamboo fungus no longer grows; when bamboo fungus primordia are harmed they become water-soaked and rot. Control measures: strengthen ventilation.
Slime mold control methods:In the early stage, carbendazim, 70% thiophanate-methyl at 1000 times, copper sulfate at 1:500, or 10% bleaching powder can be sprayed continuously 3-4 times.
2. Harm of smoke mold fungus:
Smoke mold fungus often occurs in high-temperature and high-humidity environments. In the early stage, dirty white fluffy mycelium appears on the casing soil layer of the bamboo fungus bed, quickly turns pink and black, and the colony becomes dark smoke gray and produces a large number of black spores. It mainly harms bamboo fungus mycelium, causing the mycelium to break and eventually die.
Smoke mold fungus control methods:The early appearance of dirty white fluffy mycelium is the best period for treatment. At this time, 3% carbolic acid or 2% formaldehyde can be sprayed directly on the affected area. When black spores appear, 20 times formalin plus thiophanate-methyl (70%) wettable powder at 700 times dilution can be sprayed. In severe cases, cut off the culture material around the affected area, spread fresh lime on and around the affected area, and cover the affected area with plastic film to control its spread.
3. Harm of slugs:
A mollusk, commonly known as the "slug", without an outer shell and with a naked body, mainly devours bamboo fungus primordia, causing perforation of the primordia and leaving a trail of white mucus.
Slug control methods:Use 1:50:50 calcium arsenate, wheat bran and water placed where slugs appear for trap killing, or spray 5% cresol soap solution or 50% saline solution where slugs appear for drop killing.
4. Harm of termites: The common termites harming bamboo fungus are Coptotermes formosanus, Odontotermes formosanus and Macrotermes barneyi. They can bore into and feed on bamboo fungus mycelium, affecting bamboo fungus yield.
Termite control methods:Trace the ant nest and main ant routes, prepare a toxic agent with 80% arsenious acid, 15% salicylic acid and 5% iron oxide and apply it, spraying 6-15g per nest can kill the entire nest.
5. Harm of mites:They easily break out under high temperature and high humidity, and occur both during the bamboo fungus mycelium growth stage and the fruiting stage. They can bite off the mycelium, causing it to shrink and stop growing, and can also bite the bamboo fungus primordia and spread pathogens, causing total crop loss in severe cases.
Mite control methods:Spray with 2.5% Uranus at 2000 times dilution or other specialized acaricides.
