For the management methods of wood ear mushrooms after fruiting, you can refer to the following methods:

  1. Management methods for raising the log beds:
The temperature, humidity, light and ventilation conditions of the mushroom yard must be well coordinated, but water management is the key to increasing yield.
At this time, an alternating dry and wet external environment is required. In the first two days, water thoroughly in the morning and evening. After that, water appropriately according to conditions. Generally, water more on sunny days, less on cloudy days, and not at all on rainy days. Each time you water, use a fine mist, water in a circuit, water everything, and water thoroughly, so that the logs absorb enough water. When the weather is clear and the temperature is high, spray water in the morning and evening, and avoid watering at noon when the sunlight is strong, so as to prevent the mushrooms from rotting. The relative humidity in the air of the mushroom yard is best controlled at 90%-95%. In this way, the fruiting bodies can grow to maturity in about 10 days.

  2. After each flush of black wood ear mushrooms is harvested, watering should be stopped:
Let sunlight shine for 3-5 days to dry the surface of the logs, allow oxygen to enter through the cracks, promote the recovery of mycelial growth, and encourage it to spread and grow into deeper parts of the logs. Then resume watering management. After about 10-15 days, the second flush of wood ear mushrooms can be harvested.

  3. Overwintering management methods for wood ear mushrooms:
Cultivating black wood ear mushrooms on cut logs takes a relatively long time. Generally, it is planted once and harvested for three years: the first harvest in the same year, a large harvest in the following year, and the final harvest in the third year. Every year in late autumn and early winter, as the temperature drops, the mycelium grows slowly or even goes dormant, fruiting stops, and the overwintering period begins.
The management method during this period is to gather the logs together and still stack them in a clean, dry place in a "well-style stack" or similar arrangement, covering them with grass or tree branches and leaves to keep them warm and moist, preventing the mycelium from being damaged by low temperatures in severe winter. If the weather is dry, appropriately spray water on the logs to maintain moisture. When the temperature rises again the following spring and ear buds appear on the logs, spread the stacks out and put them on the racks again, manage them carefully, and harvest after they mature.
